Learning curve that can be fun

I purchased the original red machine, great looking, easy to keep clean, however there is a huge learning curve to be able to use it. You learn quickly that it doesn't cut anything smaller than about 2 inches and even then only if the shape is pretty basic. If you're looking to decorate a full size cake with larger images it's great, but for smaller things like cupcakes you will be fighting a losing battle to get anything intricate to cut. Gum paste seems to work easier than fondant, both need to sit on the mat for about 10-20 minutes before cutting. If you have the time to play with different ways to use this machine to get it to work for you and you have a lot of patience, I'd recommend it, if you're looking for something that cuts fondant as easy as the expression cuts paper/cardstock then I'd give it a miss.

Love my Cricut Cake

I had a halloween party and needed to decorate the cake in a hurry. I used the sugar sheets and it was so easy, this machine is easy and fun.

It cuts Fondant/Gumpaste?

I have tried repeatedly over several months to try and use this machine. I have frozen my fondant, I have dried my fondant out and still the blade manages to pull the fondant while cutting. I have still to this day NEVER had success cutting out any type of design. Not even something as simple as a diamond. I hope everyone else has luck with theirs.

Worst Investment Ever

I was one of the first to buy the Cricut Cake when it came on the market. I am a professional baker and cake artist. I was so excited about this product and could just imagine all that I would be able to do with it. WRONG!!! I tried all the tips given. The "sugar sheets" that they send with the thing worked OK, but taste nasty. I am known for my tasty fondant. I could not send those things out to my customers. I have never been so disappointed in a product before. I should have sent it back, but waited too late thinking that maybe next time it would work.

Simple for me

My husband just bought this for my birthday. I fiddled around with it for about 2 minutes and cut out a bunch of christmas trees and a wreath top for a mini cake. I know it took me less than a half an hour total because I assumed there would be a lot of trial and error and there wasn't. I cut everything out of Wilton sugar sheets to figure out how to use it. I was iffy on the taste of the sugar sheets but after sitting on butter cream frosting, they softened up and were fine. I hate fondant so I was concerned when my husband bought me this. But now that I know how easy it is to stick on still soft buttercream, I'm prepared to amaze at the holidays.

Delighted

My Children bought this for me for my Birthday. That night I had to make a cake for my Husband's office for their Christmas party. It took me no time at all to learn how to use this. I made my decorations out of Gum paste. Hardest part was rolling out the gum paste but the snowflakes I used and the other decorations were so easy. The cake was beautiful. I used regular icing on the cake so the decorations adhered really well. I love this product and can hardly wait to get more cartridges. My cake decoration teacher herself just got this machine and we are both so delighted with it. I know this will help me make my cakes so much easier than cutting these decorations out myself. Thanks to my Children....

in awe

My son and daughter-in-law bought this Cricut for me for Christmas. I was in total awe. Wanted to buy it for my personal use, but knew I couldn't afford it at the time. Twice I passed it knowing someday I would have it, but never ever knew I would get it for my Christmas gift. How grateful I was. For days I just looked at it. I have the Cricut for scrapbooking and I love it. Look out world, the cake lady and her Cricut are coming. I'm so excited!

Head over Heels for the Cricut Cake!

My Momma bought me the Cricut Cake. I had been begging for one for a long time. Got it home, hooked it up and it took me all of 10 minutes to learn. I had a really bad injury to my wrist and writing isn't the easiest task to do. This works perfect. I cannot wait to get more cartridges to play with!

changed mine to cut paper.

My husband bought this for me for my anniversary last year. I used it once with mediocre success, but it won't cut any intricate details. The sugar sheets taste like crap. I tried freezing regular gumpaste and fondant, tried letting it dry out a little, but it pulled and stretched into a mess reguardless of what I did. I finally just bought the deep cutting blade and paper mats and am now using it for cutting cupcake wrappers for my cupcakes. Traditional gumpaste cutters seem to be much more cost effective.

Too good to be true

I love to make cakes and wanted to take it a step further so this machine was a no brainer right? Wrong!! The first machine didn't work, the second machine BARELY WORKS and whatever it cuts it's jaggard and horrible. I've never sworne at a machine as much as this one. It's too good to be true people, DON'T GET IT.
