Hi all.
I was wondering if there is anyone interested in creating a "Book Of Me"?

I always avoid scrapping about myself, as I know so many of us do, but lately I have been thinking how important it is to document my life. After all, I am someone important in the lives of my children and my husband. I am loved by my parents and siblings, and I am part of something bigger with my ancestors, past and present. Needless to say, so is everyone else. I thought it about time to write my story.

So... I was thinking that we could start together and create maybe a layout a week. We could share it here on the board. It would also be a great way to get to know each other better. Naturally, you only have to share what you want to share and can work at your own pace.

I have decided on an 8x8 album, but you could do any size you want. You can add as much or as little journaling as you wish and ditto on the photos. I will add a new layout challenge each week for us to work on, then we can upload all the layouts under that thread.

Okay, any takers? I will post the first challenge later on tonight (Aussie time), and those who are interested can get started.

I was just talking to my Aunt about how we are always behind the camara and never in the front!! I think this is a great Idea...... Keep me posted, on the challenges!!!!

Okay, for those of you who would like to come on this journey with me here is our first challenge... an easy one to get us started.

Challenge # 1:
Design a title page for your Book Of Me. The only requirement is that you should include a dedication and short explanation of why you are making this book.

Some Hints:

Before you start, you might want to think about an overall theme for your book. Perhaps a unifying colour scheme or maybe a consitent layout style... something that ties all the pages together.
Think about who your audience will be. Perhaps your children aren't too interested in your life story yet, and maybe never will be depending on how often you told them stories! But think of your grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Your life will be considerably different from theirs and they WILL be interested.
Keep it personal. Let your layouts reflect your personality. Remember that you don't have to share it if you don't want to, and you can keep as much or as little information in it as you choose.
Leave some room for updates!

Hi Beccy. I think this is a great idea. I agree with everything you said about the importance of telling our own story. I would love to join in, however I'm not sure if I would get a page done every week. Is that okay??? I will try and do as many of your challenges as I can. Sounds like fun!!! Thanks for inspiring us!!!

Becky,

This is a great idea. I am not sure I can do a page a week but I would really like to join you. I really love your work and am inspired to give it a go. I think I will do 8x8 also just to stretch my boundries and keep in mind this is different than my regular stuff....

Ditto, to always being behind the camera!! I have hardly any photo's of myself!!!I the biggest whinger in taking peoples photo's and the BIGGEST whinger on getting my own Photo taken LOL, Maybe I calk do the jpurnal with out pics :) Still a great Idea Because I would never of this on my own, thats for starting it!! I think I may just have to join in!!!

Wonderful! Welcome aboard Bee, Sarah, Marilyn and Shazza. I'm glad to have some company! And of course you can go at your own pace... not a problem. Just post your layouts to the corresponding thread when you are ready.

I started my BOM in Feb, but with work, travelling and everything else including other projects, I've only managed 2 LO's and now it has been put on hold. I have loads of ideas scribbled in a journal, but I am sure I could fit in 1 LO a week.
Like Shazza, I always seem to be the one taking pics and never seem to have them taken of me, but after a few lengthy discussions about it with my NSSS I am being brave now and giving the camera to others to take pics of me, not always with successful results I may add!
As I travel so much, my photos and LO's are usually of places I've been to, so it will be a pleasant change to do something about me for a change, so count me in Beccy.

Great idea Beccy, like the idea of being able to work at my own pace and love doing 8x8 - I'm going to try a different technique each week too. I need to add more flowers, ribbons, inking, etc. to my layouts.

My son visited Australia a few years ago and loved it. I think with enough drugs (hate flying) I could make it some day.

This is an awesome idea! The hard part for me will be getting pictures from my childhood from my mom, she is not very organized and the are probably up in the attic. My younger sister still lives with her and was able to get hold of all her pictures. Hmmm... thank Happy

Hi, Beccy,

Gosh, what a great idea...I have seen a couple of magazine articles on doing a scrapbook of yourself, but until I saw your post, wasn't really inspired to get going on one. I think I will join you and everyone else, and will try to get a layout done once a week, also, this will be my incentive to get some of those pictures in old photo albums out and give them a new life! Thanks! I'll be looking forward to the challenge every week. I surely enjoy all the work that you post, and have given several of your sketches a try in my own scrapbooks. It'll be fun to work on this with friends on the message board! Velva

I want to do this but I don't have time! I'll think about it. I'm 1 yr behind on my daughters book, and I hate things unfinished. But, I will keep an eye out for this thread, to see everyones work.

I've started a BOM last year, I did my mom's family, then I began at my dad's but that's where I got

I haven't look in my BOM since then (it's over a year ago), maybe I will do some more pages, but I've done several pages so I look where I can join your challenge

But I will post the ones I've allready done (without my Cricut

)

If you post a new challenge will you add the link in this thread

Laura and Sonia, I completely understand. The thread will always be here if you change your minds.
Anja, I'll try and remember to put a link in this thread for all the future challenges, though it might be hard to find again depending on how many new threads are made.

Alrighty, here is a picture of my front cover. I had to make it to cover an old, unused 8x8 album that had some of the top finish ripped off.
