I have read some posts that some are able to convert DS files and save them to their Gypsies.  I have two DS files that a friend sent to me and would like to convert/transfer them to my Gyspy.  I do not have DS... only had the trial version that I used for a short while.  How do I do this?  Please advise.

The update that was pulled, those that were able to download the update are able to download our files to our computer. We can take our files from the Gypsy into DS. However, it is not that simple because there is not a "Save As" for the g files which means sorry all you can do is download the files to your computer. I changed the file extension and that saved the file to DS but when DS opened the file, all I got was a blank mat. The DS recognized the file once I changed the extension but the file could not be viewed. I am ****uming that is one of the update’s problem. I am working with the trial version.

The trial version of DS doesn't convert gypsy files, but the update that was there for a moment does so if you have the full version. No doubt this will be coming back. Hopefully very soon.
But you can have your friend convert the DS .cut files to .gypsy files with her non-trial version of DS, as soon as the new update comes out.

So, I guess if I want that feature, then I have to open up my CDS and install it on my computer. Then I guess I can cut via CDS if I change the files.

Only if you have the updated CDS. So, install it, update it, and then you should be good to go. Once the new CDS update is there, that is.
(And I think you have to get a computer back in your craft room first . So many steps... )

Well, I can always put it on my laptop! ha, ha Since I have the update that was pulled, all I would need to do is to add the serial number from my unopened CDS, right? Then it should work with the g files or not? Which build number are you working with? You know, the pop up that I told you about the other night telling us which cart was used for the image on the mat, well the G kicked out that feature because I cannot get it any more. What do you think about that?

I really can't explain that. But then, I don't have 0129; so I can't say what might be happening. (Either Gypsy's being moody, or you're doing something a little different.)

So, which build do you have? G is being moody! Doing the same thing. Maybe she needs to walk on your moon!

Thanx for your help guys... either way patience is probably going to be key.  I WON'T be buying DS, but I'm confident that down the road there will be as many G cut files as there are for DS and SOME creative soul out there will convert these two files for me.  I mean, look at all the amazing stuff that got cranked out!!!!  There are some seriously talented people on this board.  Gypsy Moon, are you a Provo Craft Gypsy Tech Advisor?  Mercy... thanks for chimin in! ;)

Yes, in time, I am sure there will be lots of gypsy files and who knows the trial version when it is fixed might be able to convert the files. She or he says he is not just someone like the rest of us that loves to help people solve their problems.

I updated only after the update was pulled. It still says 0115 and I have a full paid version DS after doing it's update . what I can do is - a ds after renaming it into .gypsy can be opened in gypsy. But cannot open the gypsy file after renaming it as .cut into DS. Can only see blank file.

What says 155? DS? You downloaded what after the update, g or ds software?

You had me going there for awhile. At first when I saw it I thought it was a typo and then you posted it a second time, then I started to think it was a typo and perhaps I missed something!
