I just finished my first official Gypsy project!!  And I have to say I am in LOVE with my Gypsy!!  I've been seeing all of these cool word and shape books being posted on blogs and the MB and I decided to try one out with my Gypsy.  (BIG thanks to all who have so generously posted tips and videos on these books and the Gypsy - you guys are an inspiration!)  I made this book using the Spongebob, Going Places, George and Paper Doll Dress-Up carts.  I used the ability to create templates on the Gypsy to do the shape book.  I used lightweight chipboard for the base of the book and the multi-cut feature on the G works nicely!!  I will say though that as a Licensed cart, paper piecing, layering addict - I plan on keeping my handbooks for the carts like Spongebob, Disney, etc. on hand for color choosing and layering purposes - I don't think the ability to see the keypads for these on the G is a subsitute for these particular handbooks.  I was able to lay out all my layers on the mat on my G though before cutting so as to be able to do my Spongebob and Patrick all in one cut - that was super nice!!  For the most part - it was pretty easy to design considering this was my first attempt at one of these.  I have lots of pics - this is just the base of the book - I haven't started adding photo mats yet as I haven't decided what pics I'm putting in the album.  Here is the whole book...

Here is the first page - Spongebob was cut at 4 in. and the paper is from the DCWV All About Boys stack...

Here is the 2nd page - Patrick was cut at 4 inches and the paper is from the DCWV All About Boys stack...

Here is page #3 - the car is from PDDU - cut at 2 inches - I cut it out in layers - the blue is a shiny iridescent paper I got at M's and the background paper is from the DCWV Generation Tech stack...

Page #4 - the cityscape is from Going Places - LOVE how I was able to play around with exact sizing for length and width on the G to get it to fit my book.  I put scraps of DCWV yellow glitter paper in the windows.  The paper on this page is from the DCWV Generation Tech stack...

And the last page - the moon is a 3 inch circle with shadow from George and cut from DCWV yellow glitter paper.  The background paper is by KI Memories (I think it came from HL).

Thanks SO much for looking!!

Wow...my 4 year old would LOVE this. His birthday is Thursday, but when you get time to post steps I am all ears on learning how to make this for him.

Hugs,

I am so excited to see your project because you've demonstrated that we can make word books on Gypsy just as nicely as we did in DS. Love your theme on this book with the super heroes Spongebob and Patrick.

Uhhhh, yeah. That is incredible! I don't think it is fair that anyone is that talented....*sigh*. lol

anyway, so the figures (like spongebob), you didn't cut out all those little pieces did you? They look printed from ink. What did you do for them?

What a great wordbook :). I've been pondering what to make for my youngest nephew (who loves spongebob), I'm thinking a combination wordbook, drawing pad. Thank heavens for BIA!

Thanks ladies!!

And yes - I actually did cut out all those little pieces!  Did I mention that I'm a paper piecing nut??  LOL!!  Both characters and all their layers were cut using the Spongebob Squarepants cart.  I use the Quickstick from Quickutz to help me pick up and place all the small pieces.
