Etching wth vinyl and tansfer tape

Gone are the days when I used blue painters tape, wax paper and a hole punch to make a glass etching stencil. Today I learned how to use transfer tape to set my vinyl stencil on the glass. It works so well, hard t believe it's so easy! I used a juice glass from my own set to test it out. It says Smile from the Walk in my garden cartridge. Can't wait to do more for Christmas gifts!

Alison - thanks for the tip about transfer tape to set your stencil. That would make it so much easier. Duh!

Great idea Allison.
Does doing this also help with placing on a curved surface or just lining it up?

I haven't really tried very rounded objects yet. I would think you could do one letter at a time so that you could overlap the excess vinyl. I will try it and post my findings.

Not Christmas, but a gift....

I was amused with myself when I looked at an empty Prego jar and realized that it would make a great gift for a prego lady.... haha.  Filled with something and decorated of course.  Just a thought.

I am making the round accordian mini albums in a tin for aunts and uncles this year.  I am making this advent calendar for the kids: http://cricutchristmas.blogspot.com/2009/09/week7-crafty-gift-paper-tube-advent.html.  This site is called Christmas with the Cricut and they have a ton of ideas for homemade Christmas gifts, decorations and cards.  I am making the note cards and pocket calendars for DDs teachers this year including her dance teachers for a total of 10 teachers.

Last year my mom asked for cards for Christmas. I made her 20 Christmas cards and then about another 25 cards for her employees. They ranged from Thank You to Get Well to Birthday and a couple of Sympathy.

Considering the craft supply I have, I'll probably do the same for her this year.

She also wanted a recipe box/book so I'm still on the hunt for the best box to use for that. Her recipes are mostly hand me downs in my grandmother's handwriting so I'll probably type up all of her favorite recipes because I'd never ask her to tape those to scrapbook paper.

I'm going to try to get a family recipe book made for my daughters also. A lady at our lss told me she saw one where they included photos of the person who gave the recipe. I thought this would be fun since many of our family recipes came from my mom who has passed away. I thought I could pick a picture of her with whichever daughter the book is for. Then I have a recipe f rom my sister so on one side I'll scrap the recipe and on the other scrap her picture.

Wow! that was a very long thread! It took 4 hours to get to page 23...LOL
I know there are many creative ladies out there and this thread proves it! Thank you all for the great ideas. I have been searching the web for Christmas ideas when i should have just came here! Duh! I will be scraplifting quite a few of these projects so thanks all for sharing.
My idea to contribute is : use a tin star (probably a smaller star 6 or 8") use Christmas paper and holiday words for deco around the holidays. I haven't made one yet... just thought of it yesterday... but will post pics when done!
Enjoy crafting everyone.
