  • How big is the mouth of the Cricut Cuttlebug™ machine?
    • The mouth is 6 inches (15.2 cm).
  • What materials can I cut or emboss with my Cricut Cuttlebug™ machine?
    • Many different materials can be cut or embossed using your Cricut Cuttlebug machine. Try using cardstock, thin metal, thin wood, some fabrics, thin felt, poster board, chipboard, tissue paper, and fun foam just to name a few. The height of your cutting materials should not exceed 1/8". Attempting to cut through materials that exceed this height may result in incomplete cuts and may negate the machine’s warranty.
  • What are some of the features of Cricut Cuttlebug™ folders?
    • New, bigger size PLUS an extra border: Starting in 2012, Cricut Cuttlebug folders have been redesigned so that you can emboss a full A2 or 5" x 7" card or piece of paper. These new folders also come with coordinating borders that are perfect for cards, envelopes, and other projects.
    • Folder names:Starting in the spring of 2012, the names of new embossing folders are screen-printed directly on the folders for easy identification.
    • Continuous embossing: Starting in the summer of 2012, you can emboss longer materials with the new continuous embossing folders! These new A2 and 5" x 7" embossing folders are specially designed so you can emboss longer strips of material. Just place the material inside the embossing folder and run it through the Cricut Cuttlebug™ machine as normal. Then slip the embossed portion through the gap in the hinge. Align the embossed section with the design before running the folder through the machine again. Continuous embossing works best for folders that have a repeatable pattern.
  • What brands of dies and embossing folders will work with my Cricut Cuttlebug™ machine?
    • The Cricut Cuttlebug machine is compatible with most leading brands of dies and embossing folders. The B Plates - Cutting, A Plate - Spacer, and C Plate - Adapter (sold separately) are different thicknesses so that you can mix and match.
    • For certain dies, shimming with thin layers of cardstock might be necessary to get a clean cut. Simply add extra pieces of cardstock beneath the die until you achieve the right amount of pressure for your die.
  • Will Cricut Cuttlebug™ dies and embossing folders work in other die cutting machines?
    • It depends on what machine is being used. Some machines will not cut the dies, while others will. Some machines will break the paper while using an embossing folder and other machines will not provide an even emboss. You will need to contact the manufacturer of the machine to ask if their machine is compatible with Cricut Cuttlebug dies and embossing folders.
