All in the Family
Bugs are interesting critters. They usually like to hang out with company. Especially the crafting kind of bug. My favorite Cricut bug is making room in its website for another member in the Provo Craft family, the Cuttlebug! That's right. Cuttlebug products are now available at Cricut.com. I'd say that is simply bugalicious and oh so convenient!
New updated pricing is also coming to cricut.com as well! Come visit cricut.com and check out our great new changes. We value our wonderful Cricut crafters and want to thank you for sharing your wonderful ideas and using our quality Provo Craft products. We think you'll find the changes pleasing.
Happy Cricuting :-)

In my free time I enjoy scrapbooking, card making, and anything that has to do with my two favorite bugs....the Cricut and Cuttlebug. My latest obsession is shape books that I have tutorials on as well. Aside from crafting I like to cook, read suspense novels and spend time with my family.

| The Night Before Christmas Shape Book Finally...here is the Christmas Book I've been working on. To me there is nothing like an old fashioned Christmas. Back when times were much slower paced and life was simple or at least it seemed that way. For embellishments I used Stickles, liquid applique, rhinestones, glitter pen, embossing on the Cuttlebug. CRICUT BOARD
This week's highlighted threads are:

TIPS TREASURE CHEST - The Un-Tip
This week's Tip is sort of an "un-Tip". It's actually encouraging you NOT to do something - and that is to be careful with leaving anything on the cutting mat for too long. Any paper or cardstock left on the mat for even a day or two will become MORE stuck. It's still possible to remove, of course, but it gets pretty sticky and could result in tears or damage to the paper when removed. It's always recommended that you clean the mat off and replace the clear protective sheet when not in use.

CARTRIDGE EXPLORATION - From My Kitchen
This week I spent time getting the yard ready for winter. You know, the usual stuff: planting blubs, putting hoses, yard chimes, and patio furniture away. I hear we have a big storm coming and so I rushed to put away all the summer items that I love in the yard away.
In this exploration I explored the From My Kitchen cartridge that you can find at your local craft stores or online.
This cartridge is full of a bunch of, yep, kitchen images for all your recipe projects or scrapbook pages that have to do with cooking. Some of the images that come on this cartridge are: cooking timer, plates, silverware, salt & pepper shakers, ice cream sundae, slice of cake, full birthday cake, bread, cookie man, eggs, pies, fish on a platter, blender, toaster, phone, oven, fridge, tea pot, coffee pot, frying pan, cooking pot, butcher knife, grill, whisk, spoon, cutting board, spatula, and a rolling pin.
The Creative features that are included with this cartridge are: Layers, Shadow/Blackout, Words, Ovals, Ovals Shadow (sold), and Tabs. The Layers feature is where you can cut parts of the image out in different colors, that's why it's called layering. The Shadow/Blackout feature is similar to other cartridges. When you look at your handbook, the picture on the left of the book is your Shadow, and the picture up in the right hand corner is the Blackout image. To cut these images, don't forget to press the Shift key first. The purpose of these features is so that you can create solid images or solid layers. This is a wonderful feature if you want to make your images pop or stand out on the page.
The Words feature has a bunch of kitchen words that will complement all sorts of projects as well as the images that come on this cartridge. Some examples are: "serves", "roll", "side dish", "measure", "spices", "strain", "mix thoroughly", "soup", "chef", "sweets", "muffins", "veal", "hot", "heat", "teaspoon", "tablespoon", "pint", "meal", "cup", "time", "preserve", "pound", "beverages", "lunch", "season", "dinner", "drinks", "dessert", "minutes", "slice", "hour", "cake", "bread", "cookies", "fish", "pasta", "beef", and "chill". There are still a bunch of words that I didn't include, but as you can see there is a nice variety to choose from. I think I have decided what I am going to make for my neighbors this Christmas (yes, I am already working on those ideas). I am going to make some recipe books and homemade rolls with the recipe included. I think I will add some of these images to the outside of the books just to give it the special, personal touch. Oh, I can't wait to finish these projects--hehe!
Well, check back next week as I continue to explore this cartridge and dive into the other creative features. Happy Halloween everyone, and happy Cricuting!
