A Father's Day Gift
Band-Aids. Mom says that was the first gift my father received from a wise relative on the first Father's Day after becoming a dad. The reasoning behind such a peculiar gift was practical and sweet. A new family tradition began. Boxes of bandages are still exchanged to this day, not only for Father's Day, but for birthdays as well.
Although my young father had intentions and desires to be a great protector of his children, he could not protect us from everything. These Band-Aids were intended for all the scrapes and bruises which busy little elbows and knees would inevitably receive. Equally skilled as mom, dad was particularly good at dressing stubbed toes and wounds created from bicycle stunt ramps and climbing pine trees across the street at the park. A ready stash of Band-Aids, hydrogen peroxide, and Neosporin were routinely applied to a wound, and for those that didn't merit a bandage, plenty of parental T.L.C. and a dose of fatherly wisdom were administered. In our family, the common Band-Aid became a symbol of love and care and eventually appreciation and gratitude.
In addition to other gifts given this Sunday, Dad will receive an assorted array of Band-Aid boxes. My siblings and I think it might be fun to create custom bandage boxes using the Cricut cartridge Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More. We'll decorate them with the shapes and fonts from a variety of favorite Cricut cartridges. Our clan also plans on having a contest to see who can craft the best Father's Day card!
Happy Cricuting :-)

CRICUT BOARD
This week's highlighted threads are:

TIPS TREASURE CHEST - Q. I'm new to using Cricut products so I feel a little silly asking this question but, how do I get one of the little Cricut machines with the turquoise side accent panels, turquoise blade carriage and turquoise LCD screen border? I own an original Cricut machine but didn't know they changed the color of the side panels, blade carriage and LCD screen. Can I just buy the new colored side panel accents for my original Cricut?
A. Thank you for your question. The machine you are referring to is not an updated model of the Original Cricut with new colors, but is actually a different machine named The Cricut Create. The Cricut Create is similar to the Original Cricut Personal Cutter in size, but can also compete with the Cricut Expression for its functionality.
The machine also includes:
- an eight-way directional blade
- five functions (which are also available on the Cricut Expression): Rotate/Portrait, Fit to page, Auto Fill, Flip and Centre Point
- allows cuts from 0.25" up to 11.5" on a 6" x 12" cutting mat
- features an improved display screen for greater style and convenience
- comes with Cricut cartridge, DonJuan

CARTRIDGE EXPLORATION -
Crafty Kimber is off this week, but she will be back next time!

TECH SUPPORT NOOK - Q. No buttons respond when I push them, but the LCD is working.
A.1 - Make sure a cartridge is inserted into the machine.
2 - Some buttons won't be active until a mat has been loaded. Prepare and load a mat.
3 - If both of these cases are met and it still will not respond, service is needed. Contact Cricut Customer Service: 1-877-727-4288 or

QUOTE OF THE DAY
| "There's something like a line of gold thread running through a man's words when he talks to his daughter, and gradually over the years it gets to be long enough for you to pick up in your hands and weave into a cloth that feels like love itself." ~ John Gregory Brown, Decorations in a Ruined Cemetery, 1994 |
| "My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard. Mother would come out and say, 'You're tearing up the grass.' 'We're not raising grass,' Dad would reply. 'We're raising boys.'" ~ Harmon Killebrew |
