I'm hungry.
I'm trying out a new nutritional program in order to losing a few extra pounds. ( aka. "I'm on a diet.") I'm constantly thinking about grabbing a bite to eat or sneaking a snack. But I think I want to fit into my targeted jean size far more than I want that piece of chocolate cake... I think. I need something to take my mind off food.
Luckily, I do have something to help me with that. Although scrapping and munching goodies are often related activities, I can still while away the hours with my Cricut pal without gaining an ounce.
Happy Cricuting,

Base Camp;?George and Basic Shapes; Christmas Cheer?? |
| Instructions: |
| I created a family recipe book for my nephew and his fiance' as a shower gift. The recipe book includes family favorites as well as photos to help Rachael get to know her new family. I wanted the book to be practical to use and easy to add her favorite recipes so I used a three ring view binder. I created the cover and the divider pages by using the Cricut and lots of swirl hearts and stars stamps. I designed the cover page after the canister set that she had purchased for her kitchen by adding the hearts on the top of the lids. The divider pages were all designed by using the Base Camp Cartridge as well as the George and Basic Shapes, Paper Doll Dress Up, Christmas Cheer, and Joys of the Season cartridges. I also used the Cricut Design Studio to create the canisters and the titles. The pages with the recipes were created with hearts and star cuts as
well as the stamps. I added several designed pages for her to added her own recipes as she learns to cook. |

CRICUT BOARD
This week's highlighted threads are:

TIPS TREASURE CHEST -
Question: I just got the Cricut Trimmer and want to know what each blade does.
Answer: The black blade is used to score paper: it makes lines on the paper to help you make clean folds and also assists in making boxes, cards, etc.
The gray blade is the cutter: it cuts your paper.

CARTRIDGE EXPLORATION -
I finally got my hands on the new Solutions Cartridges! I was so excited to finally get these new cartridges, plus see what I could make on my little Cricut bug. There are some differences between the solutions cartridges and the Original Cartridges. One of the differences is the price-the Solutions cartridges are lower in price, and they don't come with a shell box or a big handbook. The Solutions Cartridges come with the overlay, cartridge (of course), and a paper brochure that shows all the different images you can cut with these wonderful cartridges. Another difference with the Solutions Cartridges is that instead of getting six creative features the cartridge only comes with two. You get Shadow and Blackout to compliment the images or fonts that come on the Solution Cartridges.

So far there are seven image and two font cartridges in this section. The image cartridges are Wedding, Home Accents, Camp Out, Indie Art, Baseball, and Soccer (yes we finally got some boy images- yaaaaa). Once I had all my nine cartridges and cut them out of the plastic containers I was a little unsure of how to store them. Then my creative mind kicked in and I realized that I could put each cartridge in its own zip lock bag. I also started looking around for other ideas on how to store these cartridges and found that children?s school items will work as well-you know, those pencil bags with the zippers will work wonderfully to store each individual cartridge and keep them looking like new.
I will write an exploration on each cartridge so that you can all see what will actually come on each

cartridge and discover all the different projects that you can use these items with. In this exploration I will share with you what I explored with the Camp Out cartridge. The reason I picked this cartridge to explore first is because spring is coming and soon we will be camping (of course I will be taking my dogs along) so I will have some great pictures to scrapbook. I wanted to see what images I had so I could plan what pictures I need to take to make the best scrapbook. Some of the images that will be on this cartridge are: a tent, guns, hiking equipment, fire, outhouse, and camping gear. Other images are: animals (bear, deer, elk, rabbit, squirrel, and cougar), their footprints, and some fishing gear. There is a canoe, trees, a wood frame, mountain, motorhome, log cabin, and four-wheeler. Wow, I can use all of these with a lot of my family outings. Every year as a family we get together to play
out on the farm; my nephews love to go fishing and I love to go camping and experience nature. Actually, since I'm already behind on my scrapbooking, I can go back to last year's pictures and use these die cuts to finish up my scrapbooking. (I'm really excited about the deer and elk images because I have a ton of hunting pictures that I can finally scrapbook without making the pages look to girly-hehe.)
Oh I can't wait to show my finished pages to my family-they will love them, and I can hear my mom say, "I want some like those," so I will end up making pages for her as well. Hummm, maybe I will just make double pages as I go and then when she tells me she wants copies I can just whip them out and give them to her-hehehe, I love that idea.
Check out next week as I pick another Solutions cartridge to explore and write about or maybe I will play with the "Pooh" cartridges as well. You will have to check back and see!
Happy Cricuting!!
