Gypsy™ Design Challenge

Compete in the Gypsy 24-hour Design Challenge! The project with the most votes wins and will be announces on October 30th on the message boards and in person at the Grand Opening of Michael’s new Manhatten Store.

Inspiration: Thanksgiving!

Instructions: Using Gypsy Wanderings, create a feather with the Trapezoid shape: 2" width x 7" height. Using the swirl flourish on Gypsy Wanderings (notice how it actually looks a bit like the Gypsy logo! LOL ;) ) group that along with the feather at the top. Duplicate the grouped feather and flourish until you have your 8 feathers and then cut. Punch a hole into the bottom center of the feathers and attach them all together with a brad. Fan the feathers out to where you want them and adhere them together to prevent them from moving. Using Plantin Schoolbook, cut a rectangle - 8" width x 4" height for the body. Shape it into a cylinder/cone-ish shape and tape it together. Cut off any excess cardstock. Make sure you have a decent sized opening at the top of your cylinder/cone body for the head. Using your adhesive attach the fanned feathers to the turkey body. Also using Plantin, cut a 2" circle for the head and a 2" diamond shape which will be cut in half for the beak. Piece it all together as seen in the picture. Add in eyes with a marker and cut a red gobbler (cut freehand). Using a craft knife, cut 2 very small slits on the top of the turkey body and slide the head in place. Cut 3 rectangles using Plantin. Example used 3"x2" base rectangle and the matted rectangles descended in 1/4" increments. Finally, using Gypsy Font, cut out the names of your Thanksgiving Dinner guests and adhere it to the place card. Embellish as you wish. Attach place card onto turkey body with pop dots. Set your table!
