I would like to use my fiskar embossing plates in my new cuttlebug. Does anyone know how to make a "sandwich" without using the C plate, which did not come with my new cuttlebug, and without using spellbinder tan embossing pads. I have looked on line but everyone uses the C pad, or rubber sheeting with embossing pads. I would really like to use the Fiskar embossing plates that have been sitting in a drawer for ages. There must be a way without having to spend more money. Help please

I would try some card board layers till you get the right thickness

You'll need a really thick wedge of cardboard shims if you don't have the C plate - better to give in and buy one, at least that way you'll get to use those Fiskars plates....also I've found they emboss better if you spritz your cardstock lightly with water just before running it through your CB...hth

I don't have these plates but I saw this sandwich: A Plate, Texture Plate, Card Stock to emboss, Mouse Pad, Chipboard as needed, B Plate The mouse pad is a flexible mouse pad cut to the size of the plate. Again, I've never tried this so I can't answer any questions.

Log in to <cricut.com> the site for retailers, not customers. Go to Cuttlebug, and keep digging until you get the PC recommendations for all the different brands of dies/embossing folders. I have a copy, but I'm cleaning out my craft room, and I'm not sure where it is. I'd share the link if I could find it. I'll go look again.FOUND IT!!! It's on the www.provocraft.com site, and I really had to dig for it, but here is the PDF file that PC makes available to it's retailers for the Cuttlebug and other manufacturer's dies and embossing stuff. Hope this helps!! (P.S. -Better bookmark the addy so I can find it again. I have printed it out and store it with my manual, but, ..... Heaven only knows where they are right now!!

You can also use a rubber plumber's gasket from the hardware store. Mine was about $1.25 or so. It is tougher than a mouse pad and, assuming you live in a town with a hardware store, easy to find. They are near the toilet parts. I had to finally ask, because it was on the bottom shelf.
They are just a square piece of rubber, waiting there for crazy crafting ladies to come get them!
I think you use place the embossing plate on one side of the paper and then the rubber on the other, but it has been a while since I did this, but it works.
You can also use brass embossing templates this way.

I do not have a CuttleBug, but I do have the Fiskars plates....received them in a swap. I lay the paper I want to emboss on the plate I want to use. Spritz lightly with water, unless it is thin paper then no water needed. Rub a melon baller over tha surface of the paper, pressing firmly and using a swirling motion. This mimics the tool that Fiskars sells to use with their plates. I admit, this takes some effort, but I have been doing it for a while now, and have gotten pretty fast at it. Practice on scrap pages first,,,you don't want to mess up you project. Just a way to use them without the CuttleBug. HTH.

I got my Cuttlebug for Christmas and didn't get the C-plate. I already had the FISKARS plates, so just bought the pads to use with them. They're not too expensive if you use a coupon at Michael's or wherever. I watched several You-Tube videos to see how it was done without the C-plate and found the pads seem to be widely used. The brand I'm using is Spellbinders. (One word of caution, they're made with natural rubber latex in case you should have an allergy to that.)
