The Cricut markers were designed to work in any Cricut - however, I would not use them in the Cricut Cake machine because they are NOT food safe. Simply replace one of the blade housing unit with your desired color of Cricut marker, select your letters and/or images, and press cut - since you have replaced the blade with the marker, lines will now be drawn where they would have been cut. But don't forget ... return your blade housing unit when you are done and recap the marker!
