i'm just wondering if anyone has ever tried to use either the gel pens or the markers to draw the faces on any of the paper dolls and if so, is there a trick to it. do you have to use the stamps for the faces? if i do, where is the best place or rather the cheapest place to get them? thank you...

I would think you could use about any pen you wanted to draw the faces. I'm not much of an artist and tried on a couple of the dolls to draw the faces. I only tried it one or twice and then I bought the Peachy Keen stamps for doing the faces. I bought the assortment so that I would have all the sizes. I believe I paid $25 for the set. Bought set PK-490 assortment of Everyday Character Faces. I have used them and seen them used on more than just the paper dolls. I love them and wouldn't do it any other way since I can't draw a straight line! Check out their web site at: http://www.peachykeenstamps.com/ and look at what they have. I don't really know of any other place that sells them. There are also samples of how the stamps have been used on various crafts. Hope this helps.

I have done both the markers and the Peachy Keen stamps. When doing the markers I cut the doll first(make note of the blade location on the screen) Then I put the blade back in the same starting place (from the screen info). I replace the blade with the marker, lower the pressure to 1 or 2. Hit "repeat last" and it draws over the doll including the face.
I love the look of the stamps so I use them more.
I did a chart for school with cars and buses and little paper people in them. The parents/bus drivers are cut at 1 1/4 in. The kiddos are cut at 1 in. Since I don't have a stamp face that small I used the markers.

I cut the paperdoll as is. I use the holes to show the black part of the eye and embellish around the sides with markers and the White Gel Pen. For the smile I trace the smile provided, make a horizontal line then use the white gell pen marking several longitude marks for the teeth, draw a half circle and use ink for the tongue. Sorry picture not that good... gotta get a better camera since daughter dropped this one. Almost forgot... this is the front of a "Wobble" Card (the head bobbles all over the place) that I just started. Edited by user Sunday, March 04, 2012 2:50:18 PM(UTC)
