I have played around a little more tonight in CCR, working with LAYERS.
1. Place image on the mat. Keep size that is put up on the mat for now. Click the image to get the box around it. Right click inside the box and "SEND BACKWARD".
2. Place layer. Keep size that is up on the mat for now. Right click inside the box and "SEND FORWARD", since layers will be on top of the original image on your project. You don't have to do the "send backward/forward steps; it helps you see the images better on the mat, though.
3. Get a box around your layer and click inside. Click the upper left circle with four arrows and hold down the mouse on that click so you can drag the layer over and weld the edge of it to the original image.
4. After WELD, go to the top and select GROUP.
5. Once you group the original image and layer together, you can size them to keep in proportion with each other.
6. Click anywhere in the grouped pieces to get a box around everything. You can now re-size to your desire.
7. You can UNGROUP, click on the layer and move it away, so it will unweld. Now you are ready to CUT.
SHADOWS - Do the same as above.
LAYERS AND SHADOWS WORK GREAT FOR ME IN THIS WAY.

THERE IS ANOTHER WAY TO SIZE YOUR IMAGE AND LAYERS:1. Place image on the mat. Get box around it and click on lower right corner and size it where you want it. Note the first two sizing boxes at the top (write them down if you need to).
2. Place layer on the mat. Size by using the first two sizing boxes at the top to match the size of your original image.
I DO HOPE THIS HELPS; IF SOMEONE KNOWS EASIER WAYS TO DO THIS, PLEASE LET US ALL KNOW.Char
