I am starting to make some paper dolls for my granddaughters and I need some help. What do you use for flesh toned paper or cardstock for the bodies? And where can you find it. I need some fair and some a bit darker. I'm stumped and white is looking good at all. Thanks and I appreciate any help,

manilla folders. Sometimes I will also buy cardstock from Hobby Lobby. They have a selection of several colors that make great paperdoll colors.

Thank you for the quick reply. File folders are a great idea. We don't have a Hobby Lobby and I checked at M's today and they had nothing. Any other suggestions? Do you have to buy single sheets? One of my granddaughters is from Guatemala so I still need to find something a bit
darker toned. Thanks again for your help.

I haven't been able to find the right tone either; so I use a cream color cardstock and then use chalk to change the shade. HTH

Thanks. I'll have to try that. It's a bit discouraging that the carts exist and what you need to use with them is not available readily with the multitude of supplies out there. Thanks again.

If you can't find the colors you need at the larger stores like Michael's, Hobby Lobby, etc., you might try looking at some of the smaller privately owned scrapbooking stores. I find that they usually will carry more of a variety of colors and you can buy them in single sheets.

Try staples or office max for the folders. But if you are looking for free cardstock and comes in all colors try home depot or lowes for their paint swatches.

Wow..free sure works for me. Can you just take them or do you have to ask a salesperson? Are they big enough for the whole body or just the faces. Thanks so much for this idea.

you can fit the whole body onto the swatch. No you do not have to ask a sale person for the swatches. If you want to you can ask them where is your paint isle.

I've used KRAFT color cardstock at times. When i was getting all my skin tones for the princess characters, I got all the paper from Joann. I kept a list of them so inbox me if you want them.

Have you tried Stampin'Up's cardstock? They have a good variety of neutral-y, flesh tone-y browns and beiges, and the cardstock is heavy enough to stand up to a kid. The downsides: it's not cheap, youou can't get it by the piece, and have to order it either on-line or through a demonstrator, but frankly, it's totally worth it. I've used several of their neutral colors--my paperdolls are a global community--and love them.

My favorite flesh color is blush blossom from Stampin Up.

Cardstock comes in fleshtones and can be purchased from Staples by the ream.
