My advice is to read these boards. People on here give advice so freely and you can get so many ideas just looking at other people's projects. I'm pretty new to all this too. I started out just cutting inexpensive papers of different thicknesses to play with the settings. That way, I could see what worked best for me since I've heard even some Expressions cut differently. You can check youtube for the thousands of Cricut videos there or Google images (in each case, you can just put in the name of the cartridge and lots of things will pop up) I'm pleased with what I've done so far, but know I have a long way to go. Good luck. I think you'll love it. I should add that Playtime looks like the perfect cart for you. I was intimidated by the layering, but I found out how to do it, step by step, by watching a youtube video. I'm sure they'll have one for you too. A good place to start is the project(s) that are in the cart handbooks. Doing them will give you a feel for the machine and the cart and what they can do. From there, let your imagination run wild! Be sure to check out all the forums on the MB (cards, LOs, other crafts, etc) for lots of inspiration!

Welcome! The MB is great, but so is YouTube! That is where I learned so much about how the Cricut works! Check out RobynStamps and AboveRubiesStudio on YouTube, both ladies have great, easy to follow tutorials on the Cricut. As you keep looking around, I'm sure you'll find some other YT crafters to learn from!
