i just received the personal cutter and i am having trouble! i have adjusted the pressure and blade height but some of the things i am trying to cut are not cutting. HELP!!

First make sure you have your blade assembly installed correctly. You'll find this pic in the user manual that came with your cricut:  You can also download a free cutting guide for different types of cardstock etc from here: http://www.aboverubiesstudio.com/It gives suggestions on what pressure and blade height settings to use.

The links GirlfromOz gave you are great ones that I use too. What are you trying to cut? You may need to slow your speed down, particularly if it's something with a lot of detail or small letters.
