Ok, I have cut my shape and I want to use red embossing powder to say something. Are there any tricks? I am burning my paper (cardstock) and very little powder stays on the stamp I used. What should I do?

When I emboss with powder I:
Rub my cardstock with embossing buddy
Ink my stamp with Versamark
Stamp image on cardstock
Pour embossing powder onto stamped image
Tap off excess powder
Use heat gun to emboss (I usually let my heat gun warm up. If I don't I tend to burn cardstock or embossing powder! It also melts the powder quicker.
Don't hold the gun too close to the cardstock or it will burn and/or discolor the embossing powder)
I am far from an expert - but maybe this will help.

Those are great tips!
Also, use permanent ink and not dye ink. Dye based inks dry faster and won't grab as much embossing powder.

If you don't have an embossing buddy use a used dryer sheet.

I will have to try the dryer sheet. I don't have Versamark. My embossing in pad is by Stampabilities. I will have to try again. I ended up just printing my saying on card stock after creating it in Paint Shop Pro and used the colors I wanted.

I use the Ink essentials big & bossy pad from Hobby Lobby. It has black and clear. It works really well. Don't get your heat gun too close - it is better to go over it several times. Once you see it start to melt watch it closely. You can always go back and heat it a little more if you need to. It sure is fun to do. Sometimes I have trouble getting the powder on evenly. If your ink is drying too quickly, then you can gently huff a small breath of air on it to re-moisten it before adding the embossing powder. Another helpful tip is to not hold the embossing tool too close to the cardstock, and make gentle rotating motions to keep one area from getting too hot and scorching.
