I`ve seen lots of posts about new trimmers and trimmer reviews and all that.However my question is when do know it`s time to get a new trimmer?

Does just changing the blade work? My paper is completely being ruined and I was just going to replace the blade.

i do that but it seems like everyone`s always getting a new trimmer does there come a time when a new blade just insn`t enogh

I have bought two new trimmers. The first I dropped and broke a plastic part. The second one, i used so much that the trimmer warpped a little and no longer cut straight ( it was the orange fiskar one ). Otherwise I have just replaced blades when needed. ho.pe this helps

I tend to keep my tools, as I would rather spend my $$$ on fun stuff, not to replace something I have that works fine. I am always very careful to store my trimmer flat, so that it can't warp. I have heard of the warping happening a lot, so when I got my last trimmer, I kept the box to store it. I am a fan of the Creative Memories trimmer with the rolling blade; I imagine other reputable brands with a similar format woudl be fine.

I decided to get a new trimmer when I keep getting frustrated that the one I had did not cut a good 90 degree angle. If what you have works for you no need to replace it.

I've had my blue fiskars trimmer for about 6 yrs. and just change the blade when cuts get jagged. I've tried other trimmers but I like this one because you can see the measure marks easy  ,lol.

I haven't tried the Creative Memories one, but I tried several other's that I haven't been happy with. It's probably me and not the cutters....but I just couldn't get a good straight cut. My latest purchase is the one by Stampin' Up which is made by Friscar but I liked the silver background better. It was easier for me to see the markings. So far I'm very happy with this one. I would just change the blades unless you are unhappy with the entire cutter and how it works.

I wouldn't replace your trimmer if you're happy with it and it's in working condition--a blade change should do the trick. I wanted to try a guillotine trimmer (and the "commercial/school grade" guillotine my husband brought home years ago is lost in the black hole he calls the garage), so I bought one, but I still use my (older model) CM trimmer for small jobs. I keep a scoring blade in my green Cricut trimmer.
