This is a fun idea for a mini album . . . love it! One thing I have found that works really well for the clear plastic areas you have used throughout the album are transparencies. Also, what works really well on clear plastic surfaces is wet-erase markers (the markers typically used on transparencies) - they are a bit messier than crayons, though! =) I'm always looking for ideas for mini albums, and I just may have to "borrow" this idea!
