For those teachers out there: if you use sulphite construction paper, you don't have to use the contact paper to keep it from leaving fibers on your mats. I have read that someone was using contact paper then the construction paper. I had my school get me some sulphite, and it works just fine next to the mat. And it is acid free. There are a few brands of sulphite, but I haven't found one that sticks to the mat yet. Also I would do a few cuts, and then clean the mat with soap and water. It work really well, with not leaving anything on the mat. And it would come up sticky again.
