I'm working on making some cards and I am done except for one thing I can't figure out how to do. I want to write the text with my markers and cut out around it. I don't have the DS do I need it or how can I do this? I have the Tie the Knot cartridge and I want to use one of the shapes on it to cut out around the text. Also I don't know who to center the text. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have not used my markers yet but I have wanted to try to do this as well! You shouldn't need DS. I am going to take a piece of paper and write my text with the Cricut. As far as the Center Point function (only on the Expression) goes, you just move your blade to where you want the center of the shape to be and then cut. It took me a little bit to get it just right, but it works great! I'd love to see how the text comes out for you! Good luck!

I do have the expression but I don't know many of the tricks yet as far as how it works doing the centering. I ended up downloading the trial verison of DS last night and designing them but I couldn't cut them cause I couldn't find a USB cord but I'm going to tonight. Its my first project with my Cricut other than just the stuff it shows you how to do with the video. Actually this is my second project..I made some Halloween tags for my kids' class party goody bags. I am going to have to play with it more. Thanks!

you put the marker in in place of the blade housing...cut as normal...when done, don't hit unload paper..just exchange marker for blade and hit cut...it will start all over from the beginning...very easy...you do not need anything special...

Would it help to read through the instructions on CENTER POINT by going to the old MB and clicking on EDUCATION on the top tabs of the main screen? Click on the machine you are using to find the index and look up Center Point. Hope this helps you. - Char

I go to youtube and hop around on alot of blogs for advice from all kinds of cricut users. It is good to read your manual and watch the dvd that came with the machine but your education can continue to grow with the help of all the people who live in your computer.

I have used the markers, especially for Disney characters... love how it turns out for the faces. Anyway, put the marker in where the blade goes. Hit cut for the shape or whatever it is your want to mark, I change the settings to blade depth 2 and pressure 2. If you want to cut out the shape, hit load paper, put blade back in. Don't forget to change your blade depth and pressure back to what it is for paper. Hit repeat last and then cut, it will cut out your image. If you want to use the marker to say something like Merry Christmas, print out the merry christmas. Then use the center point button, move the blade over the center of Merry Christmas and cut whatever shape you like and it will center the Merry Christmas. Hope this makes sense.
