Hi there,
I'm going to purchase a Cricut Expression as a birthday present for my wife and I'm looking for suggestions on what a good complimentary "starter pack" would be.
The Cricut Essentials Kit is definitely on the list.
I'd like to add a couple additional cartridges but I'm not sure what the best or suggested "first additional cartridge purchased" would be?
She makes cards quite a bit and so I'd like to find a couple cartridges that would be applicable there.
Are there some cartridges that everybody buys as their 2nd or 3rd purchase?

Beyond Birthdays and Wild Card are two good ones for card makers! Maybe an extra set of mats. What a great hubby you are!!

extra matts would be very nice the beyond birthdays and wild card are good choices there is also a Christmas card cartridge. I do not know what themes your wife makes cards for but I personally think the paper doll dress up cart is very fun to make cards with.

You da man! You're asking a loaded question. Either of the Paper Dolls carts seem to be favorites with everyone.
Just Because is also another cartridge that has pre-designed cards like Wild Card and Beyond Birthdays.
Maybe for a better idea, you can view what is on each cartridge under the information section. I'm not good at inserting links but if someone else is, feel free to post it.
You are going to have a very happy wife no matter what you choose!
Best Wishes!

What a great Husband ! She is sure to be thrilled ! In my opinion A Child's Year is great to making cards ! The Paper Dolls Cartridges are also great since they have MUCH more in them than paper dolls ! Storybook is about my favorite Cartridge. I love the fonts and the extras. I would also say the paperdoll cartridges. I like everyday paperdolls best but use them both alot. If she makes cartoonish cards create a critter is another of my favorites and it has lots of "extras".I would also suggest a font cartridge so she can make sayings. Simply Sweet is a good versatile font. I know she will love her cricut . Laura

I have been pleased with the bundles that HSN offers... I love the font cartridge Storybook. It is very elegant. I agree with the others, Everyday Paper Dolls is a great cartridge as well!

loaded question for sure. There are so many good ones it's hard to pick a fav. But my suggestion is go to cricutmachine.com and check out there ongoing sale. They have a lot of carts on sale for $19.95 each and they always have cart bundles that range from 3-5 carts for $54-$175. I buy exclusively from them and get my order within 3-5 bus days. Donna You're the best! well that is next to my hubby! Edited by user Monday, October 18, 2010 2:18:43 PM(UTC)

I would also add Designers Calendar to the bunch. There are a lot of Holiday images and words she can use. There is also a Thanksgiving cart that is out. I don't know if she is into making Thanksgiving cards.

Nice hubby!
I would get extra mats, an extra blade and the essentials pack - maybe the A-Z DVD for Cricut Expression so she can learn to use it properly. I love my Alphalicious and Cuttin Up font cartriges. For card makers, definately Just Because Cards!

Thanks for all the great suggestions! Cricut is so deep, it's hard to know where to start.
