Other sites have been abandoned in the past becuse of spamming getting a foothold. Why is the these kitchen spams not being cleared out? Must not be any moderator working here at all. BJR.

There really isn't a moderator. There are CS reps that help with CS issues and they can delete threads. But, they aren't online all the time. When you see a thread that needs to be addressed, use the report button and that will alert them to check it out.

I think the bigger problem though, is figuring a way to keep the spammers from posting in the first place. Already, they go through the hassle of creating an account and logging in so they can post. And the security code is only slowing them down.

What do you mean by "kitchen spams"? I just clicked on a thread showing "kitchens.....brown kitchens". Is that spam? It didn't affect my computer, though. I'm sure this is probably not what you're meaning.

Hello all, the kitchen spam posts are take care of each day, Deleted and banned. I guess I should apologize if some have been left for more than 24 hours, but I don't know that many have been. You can always be proactive and report the posts if you would like. This particular spammer is "crafty" in his own way, they create a new user name each time they post. So again, sorry for the inconvenience. I will certainly try to be more vigilant!

Off to put on my super hero suit to fight the spammers!

-Cricut Gena

P.S. I will let that unmentionable post slide this one time Snapishbumblebee...

Glad you could see the humor that was intended Gena! BigGrin BigGrin

I don't quite understand the Spammers - but they are very determined. What do they get out of it - does anyone seriously buy what they are selling? Or are they just after clicks on their links if they have them?

Wow I as trying to post here and was suddenly logged out. There are spams even from the day that this thread was origanally started- 4 days ago there are 3 here alone- right there in this forum. If you do a kitchens search or kitchens for sale they are here at least from a month ago. Please take care of them-I do not want to click on spam to report it, nor should I have to go thru and do it. PC should at least clear it out. I am asking for PC to help us take care of the board please, I can find that easy so can they. BJR.

Today right now there are 5 new ones on this thread alone. please get the
IT dept. involved - check into removing these posts and looking into their IP addresses and try to block them. 1st block their accounts, then their IP addresses. There is an issue here. BJR.

Well, I don't know a lot about PC's setup - but as someone with a website I can tell you that spammers get smarter and trickier over time and blocking them isn't as easy as we'd all like it to be! There isn't any danger to users in opening a spam post on the board (but I wouldn't click on links within the post) to report it.

Personally I just ignore them. The thread titles always make it pretty clear it isn't something I'm interested in.

You might have missed the post on one of the other threads where PC said they are deleting the accounts of SPAMMERS, but they just open a new account. Same for their IP address. Most SPAMMERS use a rolling IP program, so they get a different IP address every time. My DH is a computer person and we have it on our computers. Every time we log in, we get a different IP address.
