I got my first die cuts for the cuddlebug and noticed it leaves the imprint on my B plate. Is this common or am I doing something wrong? I don't want it to ruin the B plates.

Welcome to the message board! As stated, yes, this is very common! I use one of the B plates for cutting and the other one for embossing. It requires a little bit of thought on my part when I am using my Cuttlebug, but I think it is worth it to have a 'clean' B plate for embossing. I use the embossing B plate under the cutting die. I always turn the cutting area of the dies up toward the B plate that I am using for cutting. The B plate will become scratched and bowed. I flip the B plate over as it begins to bow and then alternate each time I cut. Eventually the plate may break, but that will be a long time from now if you are careful about using the correct 'sandwich' for the die you are using as you cut. I save one of the B plates for embossing because as the B plate that I am using for cutting becomes scratched, the scratched area may emboss on my paper, too. This may be too much information! The B plates are meant to 'consumable', taking all the damage from the cutting. That said, I've had mine since 2008, and while they are rough and you can almost see through them in small spots (and one is developing a very small crack), they still work fine.
I like the idea of a separate set for embossing.
