I can understand that Gypsy linking has been a much requested feature and the wait has been frustrating. This is a frustrating issue for us as well as we have been working hard to resolve the issue. We want to be able to say “it is working!” but we can’t do that quite yet. We are however very, very close. We have a solution and have started the testing phase. This testing will take time because we want to be as thorough as possible. We don’t have an exact time frame of when we will be able to release this, but we want to make sure that everyone will be able to access content on Gypsy and in Cricut Craft Room. We are almost there. Edited by user Tuesday, April 16, 2013 5:28:08 PM(UTC)

Ok I had to laugh when I saw the Title of your post Nathan. Just change the word "answers" to "droids" and Star Wars popped in my mind. lol Thanks for the update. I look forward to being able to link all my Gypsy linked cartridges to CCR. I also hope they will be able to link the free cartridges that we received on our Gypsy's during a promotion. Smiley Cards, Indie Art, Printing Press, Black Letter, Tags, bags, boxes and more, and Christmas. I only owned the actual cartridge to half of these and now if I remember right all of them are retired or exclusive to the Gypsy. Edited by user Thursday, February 28, 2013 7:29:45 PM(UTC)

Thanks for the update Nathan. It will be very helpful to have all my cartridges linked to CCR. I have way too many (I have lost count - 350 plus??) and having them in CCR would be SO beneficial to me!!
I do appreciate, as others have stated, that we do want it to work properly, so thank you and all of the PC IT team for wanting that as well.
We love our products and want to be able to use them to the fullest of their capabilities, so that is why we are anxious for correct updates. (Too many machines to list, but when updates go bad, it is a nightmare) I am one of the cautious people who are wary of updates, and need them to be right, as I am not a very capable hi-tech person. I am very grateful for the MB members who are that help others with issues.
Thanks for keeping us informed and we appreciate you, Mallie, Gena, and any others I might have missed.

Apologies to those that still want something tangible. We know that we have said "Coming Soon" for too long, and we certainly debated whether to share that we ARE closer-- but we decided that we needed to share that we HAVE been working... and we are very close... but we are testing and testing to ensure that we kept you all waiting with good reason.
Thank you for all of the support-- I'm sharing it with our technical team to keep them motivated!

Agreed - its called managing expectations and PC isn't very good at it. They should also under promise and over deliver...rather than the other way around.

Nathan, As other's have pointed out, in the beginning of CCR, linking did work. Okay we are a bit down the road from what was. But instead of a big programing deal, why not do something much easier? Provocraft has the ability to lock and unlock "entitlements" i.e. the right to use a cartridge. We know this because of the free cuts every week. Which by the way is an excellent marketing ploy. Provo Craft excells in marketing!!!!
So, if unlocking is possible and we know it is, what not take the customer's registered cartridge list and unlock those entitlements? That doesn't require programing. Provocraft has access to all of our accounts, the cartridges to be registered, have to have an individual serial number, so there is no question of the registration not being accurate. This process would not involve the Gypsy at all
When I buy a cartridge, the "unlock" happens as soon as payment is verified, so the unlocking of entitlements cannot be a complicated process, or one that there is a long wait que on.
If my Gypsy dies and I fear the day is coming, I will need to send it in to get those cartridges "unlocked" and re serialized to a new Gypsy (if I can find one). So what if I make it even easier for you? What if I (and all the cutomers involved) send you our list of registered cartrs and you (Provo Craft) unlock them? Even if we had to do the work of actually sticking each card in the machine and re-linking to CCR, most of us would be willing to do that. I have a bazillion carts and I would do it.
The sad thing is, I am actually beginning to learn to use CCR but don't as much because of the hassle of having to go get a cart and stick it in the machine. Judy In KS

I realized you asked Nathan, but the answer to this question is that a lot of people have carts registered to their account that they have since sold. Once a cart is registered by one owner, it doesn't keep a new owner {or multiple people knowing the owner} from registering that same cart. That's why the Gypsy serial number is written onto the cart when you link it. Otherwise, the initial process could have been register your carts and link them automatically through {what was} Gypsy Sync. If it were that simple, I think PC would have done that months ago. But, whatever they have tried, hasn't worked. Their are lots of creative people on this MB, so I think if someone has an idea of what would work, they should post it. It might just be the solution.

Thank you for the update! I realize people have been waiting a long time and I can totally understand their frustrations. (I do not own a Gypsy) I know some people have gotten frustrated with what they see as a "coming soon" update post BUT I personally am glad to hear from PC even if it is that you are working on it. Work away. Work until you get it fixed for these people. I'm glad you are testing it to make sure you can get it to them in the best working order possible. Basically my point for adding my 2 cents worth here was to thank you for your continued effort AND for the update. I agree with the OPs who are saying.........THANKS, NATHAN.....some news, even though it's not the news we've been wanting to hear.....IS BETTER THAN NO NEWS AT ALL. PC has my vote of confidence and I believe a lot of people now there have taken on problems of others (who have left PC) and that's not an enviable position to be in. I believe in PC. I believe you will come through for all those who have been waiting for so long. THANKS, from all of us who understand and who really want the best for everyone here and for PC.

Thanks Scrapalette, for your helpful answer. Maybe my solution WAS too simple. As for PC thinking of it long ago if it were possible.....maybe not so much. I don't mean that my idea is possible but having lived through PC's fixes and changes since the Gypsy launch, I see their efforts much like turning an ocean liner. It can be done, but slooooooowly, needs lots of room. I guess I leaned toward the simple because it seems simple for them to take my money VERY quickly, unlock carts very quickly, market great ideas with panache and hoopla.
At first CCR was bewildering to me and now I really like it and would like to use it more with my many cards and would like to use blending two carts. I can do all that but again using the ocean liner analogy, it's slooooow, awkward and therefore not as enticing, which brings me back to what's in it for PC. Those free cuts are nice and I would buy more if I were in CCR more, but if it's not as easy to use because of the many unlinked carts, it isn't just the user that is losing out on something that does work, it's PC too! I would love to see this get resolved because I linked all my carts to CCR because I was told to do it when it was first rolled out. Now I can't link to CCR and have limited use. I'm looking for to getting this resolved.

I agree with Judy that PC is making this needlessly complicated when there is a simple solution. While it doesn't make sense to use the registered carts for the reasons Scrapalette mentions, it does make sense to use the list of cartridges that are linked to an individual's Gypsy. This preserves having a cart able to link to CCR only once since you already can not link a cart to CCR when it has previously been linked to a Gypsy. And we already had at one time, and have since lost, access to those Gypsy promo cartridges in CCR. Why not throw us a bone and at least give us those back?

Great I appreciate that these things have to be tested to avoid the fiasco that we had when CCR was first rolled out to the masses but WHEN OH WHEN are Cricut going to resolve the issue of linking your Gypsy to the Create. Since mine went wrong last year and struggling to revert my firmware back to 1.54 (now done) I'm afraid that I'll NEVER use the two together again as it stands. A number of posts relate to this problem on the Create board but no one ever answers!! xxsue

I appreciate the thought but I will wait and see. At this time when not much gets fixed, I am not holding my breath. I do hope it does. We certainly need more things fixed and proof of it too. BJR.
