Hi, I have been cutting boxes from the Tags,Bags,Boxes & more cartridge in the craft room. Having cut the same box 50 times a few weeks ago without any problems at all I am now having difficulty getting the same box cut correctly on my Cricut mini. The problem is that instead of just making the tiny guidance cuts it has started making long cuts right through the card in at least 2 places. I am now only getting 50% cut correctly and so am wasting a lot of card stock! Has anybody else experienced this or have any idea what the problem might be? Thanks so much for any help Carol

Is your mat clean? is the paper flat down tight to the mat?

Yes, everything is in order. It cuts the correct shape correctly but is adding extra cuts where there shouldn't be any and so making the boxes useless. These extra cuts have been in 3 different places and of varying lengths. It doesn't always do the same number of extra cuts either....totally got me baffled! Thats why i asked about the mat, some people say to reset the machine, when it's happened to me i change mats and it cuts just fine. When it does that to me its because the blade is dragging across the paper, which is why it puts the cuts random places. Do you have another mat to try? Check your blade to be sure no paper is up in there.

Well I changed the blade and the mat and the very first cut it did was wrong!
I'm beginning to feel like throwing it out of the window...I guess it's back to the drawing board and trying to find something else to try. Need to get it sorted as I'm in the middle of doing wedding stationery so need to get it working asap!

Since you changed the blade you are sure you put it back in correctly? Hopefully someone else will come along with another suggestion to get you going again... its the weekend some folk are out and about, plus its a long weekend but hopefully you get some more advice. I don't have a mini i have an Expression. But they all work basically on the same principal.

I'm as sure as I can be that the blade is in ok.
It still cut the shape I wanted but just added the extra cuts....all very strange.
I've asked the question in as many places that I can think of so maybe I'll get it sorted eventually. It's worked fine since I got it and I've cut loads of different things, this has just happened today out of the blue.

Hi Dani, I have sent you a message....thanks. Just to let you know I have tried to cut the box again this morning and the cuts have been far worse! Instead of the tiny cuts for guidance for scoring it has cut every one all the way across so the box is totally useless. To me it appears that the blade is not retracting when it should and just continuing to cut. I do hope the housing will solve the problem. Many thanks for your help Carol
