I'm new to the Cricut world and just ordered one of the Martha Stewart Cake cartridges. I was told I can't use it to create designs for cakes, etc on my regular Cricut. Is that true? The product description didn't say you had to have a special Cricut. Now I'm irritated and disappointed.

You can use the cart on your regular machine to cut card stock but no you cannot use it to cut the paste to decorate a cake. The regular machine parts wouldn't be sanitary as you can't take them out to wash like you can with the cake machine.

You can use any Cake cartridge in any machine. But you can not use the Imagine cartridges in all machines. And what the above poster said was true, you can't use a regular cricut to cut out cake icing. Edited by user Friday, April 26, 2013 2:20:43 PM(UTC)

If you dedicate your regular Cricut to food, you can use it for cake decorating. That's actually how the Cricut Cake was developed. People were using the Cricut to cut food and PC made one of food safe materials. But, many people continue to use the regular Cricut instead of the Cake.
I just wouldn't cut paper and food with the same Cricut.
