In the cartridge box there is a rubber type keypad thingy. What on earth is it for? Am I supposed to put it someplace on the machine? Images are sooooo bad I can barely make out what they are. Can't see it could be much use for anything.

I'm guessing you have a Mini or an E2! It is a keypad overlay. The original Cricut models have kepads and depending on which button(s) you press on the keypad you get different images to cut. Each cart has it's own specific keypad overlay {which matches the images on the keypads in CCR}.

Ok my question then is . . . where do you overlay it cuz it's twice the size of the screen on my E2 lol.

You don't need it for the E2. The same images will appear on the screen. On the original models, you would see 60 ish buttons to lay the keypad on to type the correct letters/image layers. For the newer machines, they aren't necessary!
