Hello.
I work at a Primary school where we have a Cricut expression, it is currently used as a stand alone system. I have pointed out to the staff who use it that it can be used as a printer like device and cut out a more diverse range of shapes. Due to the restrictions placed on the main network we are not able to attach the Cricut to it or the computers on it. However, I have found an older unused computer which, alas, is running WinMe.
The Cricut expression was bought a few years ago before I started here and the discs have been stored stored so safely no one can find them, which might not even had WinMe supporting software.
Is there any older version of the software Craftroom and drivers that are compatible with WinME. There is no chance we will get funding for a new computer to connect to the Cricut expression.
With thanks for any help.

The disk that came with the Expression wouldn't have had any drivers on it so don't panic about finding it! First question though.... Can the WinME computer be connected to the internet? Because if it can't then CCR isn't of any use as it's an online program. The specs for CCR don't list Windows ME as compatible, but I would certainly give downloading it a try. Go to http://www.cricut.com/craftroom to download the install file. Then try installing it. If it does happen to work then you can use CCR to update the firmware on the Expression allowing it to cut.

Hello Narelle, Thank you for the quick reply.
I have connected it to the network and used a different proxy to give it unfiltered access so updates/drivers could be acquired, this failed with no drivers been found. I downloaded the CCR and it gives a message along the lines of "Expecting a newer version of windows"
The device manager lists the cricut as an unknown device.

The device manager lists the cricut as an unknown device. Sadly, it looks like ME isn't compatible with CCR. Or the Expression... Could the school IT people possibly have an old copy of XP lying around that they could load?

Oh well, thank you Narelle for you help.
I guess I will need to install it on a laptop and allow people to use it on the cricut. The problem with laptops is people tend to forget to return them once they have finished.
Where the cricut sits is nicely out of the way of inquisitive fingers.
Thank you again.
