Happy New Year! I received a Cricut Expressions 2 for Christmas and am trying to figure out how to use it. I was wondering - is the 12 x 12 the only size cutting mat you can use for the Exp. 2 machine? I have a lot of 8 1/2 x 11 card stock (I am a stamper) and would like a mat this size if possible....any ideas/suggestions for a newbie? Thanks!

12 x 12 is the only one to use with the E2! If you are using CCR, you can position your image on the virtual mat to make sure you utilize all of your paper. I have a Gypsy & use it when using scrap paper to make small cuts with.

Since you can see where your images will cut with the E2, just make sure you position your paper {whatever size you want to use} in the corresponding position on the mat. You can use a smaller piece of paper {8.5 x 11 or even scraps of paper} even multiple pieces of different color paper on the 12 x 12 mat to make you cuts.

You can also use the 12x24 mat in the E2, but for what you're doing it wouldn't be worth purchasing. I have the 12x24 for doing larger words and banners using bristol board (poster board) since it's the only thing I've found that will fit this mat. You can also adjust your paper size on your E2 to tell the machine you only have an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper on the mat. Here's a video that shows you how to adjust the paper size: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xTcd3Vdu2UEdited by user Wednesday, January 02, 2013 10:32:33 AM(UTC)
