Just unpacked and set up my E2. I'm so intimidated. There is a strip of tape on the along the inside of tray where you load the mat by the roller? Do I need to remove this? It does not look like it is going to come off easily???

No, don't peel that off. It's supposed to be there. The only things you need to remove are the caps on the cartridge slots and the dust cover over the screen. Keep those to put back on when you're not using the E2. There's also a dust cover on the slot where the wi-fi device goes.
There will also be a sticker over the screen that you need to remove. No need to keep that one.
