I'm from New Orleans and I love the Mardi Gras Season...

Everyone loves celebrations! Louisiana hosts one called Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday. Mardi Gras is a holiday for celebrating and eating. The following day is Ash Wednesday, which is the beginning of Lent, which is a 40 day period when Christians give up something they enjoy until Easter Sunday in honor of God sending Christ to the cross for our sins...

Parades and balls take place all around Louisiana. Kings, Queens and Courts are named. During the parades and balls the kings and queens and members of court cover their faces with masks. I've always loved them.

So to celebrate with you all, I thought that I'd do a Mardi Gras Masquerade Mask Swap. Mardi Gras Day (Fat Tuesday) is Tuesday, Feb. 12. I love the idea of a Partner Swap of Masks. You would decorate your mask according to your partners wishes.

I will post several pictures of handmade masks for you to get some inspiration. I think this is going to be fun and exciting.

Traditional Mardi Gras colors are Purple which represents Justice, Green which represents Faith and Gold which represents Power... lots of glitz and bling should go on these.

Here are the RULES:

1. Only eye masks...no full face ones. Masks have to be completely decorated. Work with you partner for likes and dislikes and make something that you love so that you know she'll love it as well. You can purchase your base mask or make it from cardboard using a template. There are many templates available on google that you can download.

2. Since Mardi Gras Day is Feb. 12, the due date is going to be Feb. 1st. Please have your creation to your partner ON or BEFORE Feb. 1st. That means you should mail at least 5 days in advance. We all know that PRIORITY is not a guaranteed 2 day delivery so even if you mail Priority it might not get there in 2 days, so try to mail at least 5 days before the due date.

3. No Flakers Please. No one wants to make something for someone else and get nothing in return. Please be mindful of that. You don't want to make something and get nothing so please don't do that to someone else. If for some reason you CANNOT complete the swap please let me know in plenty of time so that I can find an angel to make a mask for your partner. WE all know that real life happens and I get that but don't just bail and not say anything. I take this very seriously and will report all flakers on the FLAKER LIST.

4. Have fun with it and again be mindful of your partner's likes and dislikes.

5. You must post pictures of the mask you receive. Posting pictures is a requirement so if you're new to the MB and would like to join this swap when you post your first post please include a picture of something that you have handmade. That way I know you know how to post pictures. Thanks. You're portion of the swap is not complete until you post pictures of the mask you receive.

6. DC is required and needs to be posted as soon as possible after mailing out. Thanks.
