I have the mini, if I weld a word together can I make a shadow for it.

If the font you are using has a shadow feature, then I start with the shadow and weld the letters together. Then I make the top layer of letters.
If the font you are using doesn't have a shadow feature, you can enlarge some of the letters to get a shadow, but enlarging doesn't work for every letter as the curves don't always match. With those letters, you can add other shapes {like a circle} to "fill in" where needed.
