I just received my Create a Critter 2. I tried a present (page 71). The cut on the icon button makes the bottom layer. Then I cut the icon with the shift button which created the top layer. Finally, I cut the Icon Layer to get the ribbon and bow for the package.

The bottom layer has some partial circles cut out (about a half-circle). The top layer has complete circles that correspond to the cuts below it. I figured that they are there to help with aligning layers; however,some of them lined up perfectly, while others still show through on the top layer.

So ... what is the purpose of the half circles?
