Hi! My Cricut Personal cutter just arrived in the post - yay! The only worry for me is that I thought I could do something but now I'm not so sure and it is the main reason I bought it I need to cut a square frame - measuring 13cm x 13cm (5.12in x 5.12in) around the outside with a width of 1cm (or .39in). The silhouette function is a tiny bit thin, I don't think I can adjust that though. But can I make the square 5.12 inches instead of 5 or 5 1/2? Or are there any cartridges that would offer a soloution? IS there one that has frames? Or is there a way to customize? Hope someone can help me!!

I know you can cut that using Design Studio or a Gpysy. I'll go check to see if I can find a square frame for you.

By all means get Design Studio software. That way you can open the image on your monitor and just grab the edges and resize it to whatever size you need.
Then just send it to the Cricut to cut. This is so much simpler than messing with the overlays and buttons on your Cricut IMHO.

did it come with a cartridge? The best I've found for making things I can't find is George and Basic Shapes that came with my baby bug!

Thanks everyone for your replies and help! So, after reading your replies I had a look at design studio, I am on a Mac so I don't think I can download it, what a bummer because it looks amazing, I hope they make it compatible in the future So the Gypsy looks great too and that can be used with my Mac. I might have to do that, although I didn't want to go and spend more after just buying my cricut... So happy with my Cricut though, I have hardly been off it, since it came out of the box! Anyway, thank you all so much, I really appreciate your time!

Oh, and GypsyDeb, yes, it came with the George but I can't quite get the size I want from that and that's why I need to be able to edit it. But the George is a great cartridge
