My friend and I buy different cartridges and share them. If I link my cartridges, can I still share my cartridges with my friend?

Link them to what? If you mean to a Gypsy, if you link them to yours she wouldnt be able to link it hers..but you both can use the same carts, yes, by putting them into the slot on the machine.
