Does anyone know if I need to purchase a new usb cord for my cricut machine to hook up to my laptop directly from Cricut or does any electronic store have them and what kind of port do I need?

The USB cord for the Cricut/computer is the same as the one for your computer/printer.
You can get them all over. Target, Best Buy, etc.
