I have been making a few cards here and there and I love textured papers... I'm wondering what I "need" to get started with a Cuttlebug ? I have seen it mentioned in the Cricut magazine when they talk about the textured look...but I'm not sure of what I should buy to get started...there are plates, the machine etc.. Anyone wanna help a newbie spend some money :)
THANKS Dulcie

I'm not sure what is all included in the box with the Cuttlebug, but you will need an A plate and 2 B plates and definitely some embossing folders. Have fun!!

Thanks :) I'm guessing the plates are separate ? I hate going into Michael's or Joann's because most of the time they don't have a clue when you ask :( Thanks again!! Edited by user Monday, October 22, 2012 7:43:28 AM(UTC)

These plates are included with the machine. (longer ones are available for purchase). You will get one folder with the machine also. If you buy a "bundle", you will get several folders along with the Cuttlebug. (see Joann.com for example...bundle $99.99). Cricut.com has the machine with one folder...$69.99). You will love it! It can also be used with other companies' embossing folders too. Read all the tips here on this mb. PS...I just received an email from Cricut Direct who has the Cuttlebug on sale for $44.95...great deal. Edited by user Monday, October 22, 2012 2:19:56 PM(UTC)

LOL - I got my bug from Cricut.com for $44.95. After I played with it for a while I told my husband we are making our own Christmas cards this year. He laughed and said "We never send out any Christmas cards", I replied - We will now!
I even bought the Grans a Cuttlekids machine with several dies to go with it for Christmas. I can't wait! I love my little bug! It comes with the A and B plates, I bought a C plate for using with other folders and dies.
Hubby bought me the Rose/Carnation quilling bundle from Cricut.com - comes with the dies for making 3d carnations and roses as well as the A,B and C long plates. You can use the short plates for the quilling dies, but you need to place them on an angle to make them fit, so can only cut one at a time. I like the longer plates because you can cut all three or four dies for each flower at the same time, or emboss 2 or 3 papers in one pass.
Once you get your bug, you'll wonder how you ever made do without it!
