I keep reading that I need to download this in order to connect CCR with my machine. I don't know where to download it from though. Also, how do I check for the latest firmware?

You don't need DS for CCR. Click on the Craft Room button at the top of the forum for CCR.

I downloaded the disk i purchased, and it is outdated , i had to call the support. they sent me a link to updated version for windows 7, . but you dont need design studio for the craft room. design studio does not require internet connect, as the craft room does

Overstock.com has Design Studio for $29.99..go to You Tube and you can watch videos on how DS works.

Design Studio is a program for you computer. It only requires internet to update it.
Design Studio will only work with the Cricut original (baby), Cricut Create and Cricut Expression.
Design Studio only works on windows computers.
It won't work with the Cricut Epression 2.
It won't work on Apple macs.
