I stood over them and cried. I am serious...I actually started crying. I am so relieved that they are done, especially since I will be out of town for the bulk of October, so I knew I HAD to be done this week!
Just about 1/2 hour ago, I finished the last of my 1000 card challenge for the Cards for Soldiers! I stood there crying, and my husband came up and was so sweet. Then, he prayed a blessing over the cards, the hands that prepared them, the soldiers they would be sent to, and the families who would receive them.
It is that time of the year...time for the Cards for Soldiers to make their Holiday cards. It is quite a challenge because as you know, the average person sends around 30-50 Christmas cards out. SOOOOO.....we all kick it up into high gear to make it happen for these men and women serving our country!
I have to tell you that the 1000 cards was a number that I came up with my friends. I received a TON of help, and even my son (12) and his friends made cards! While the cards aren't master pieces, I am very proud of them and thrilled to be shipping them out on Monday. It was a month long process, it was lots of tv dinners and trips to Michael's but the cards are done.
We made about 200 Thanksgiving and the Rest are Christmas cards.
Here are some of them

This one, my son and his friends made! (Picture five 12 and 13 year old boys making cards! The conversations were priceless!!!)

And this is a picture of all of the cards. For some reason, it feels like it should look like MORE~ LOL

So, me and my crew made 1000, but you need to know that I have TONS and TONS of help!
Please consider making a few cards for the Cards for Soldiers. Many people make 10 and 15 cards. Imagine if everyone here made 10 cards? OH MY GOODNESS! It would be awesome! EVERY CARD COUNTS~
