Problem # 5,934:
My machine will now do NOTHING because it says the ink cartridges are missing. They, of course, are not. I have taken them out over and over, and it still says missing. I can not get the machine to cut at all because of this.
Any help would be much appreciated and save the machine from my baseball bat.
Thanks,

Thanks, lol @ 5,934.. :) Is the machine all the way up to date? You can take the cartridges out, shut the machine off, insert one and see if it registers and then try the other one. If up to date and that doesn't work, then probably need to replace the ink cartridges :( HTH Khrista

Yes, I have updated recently (after everything didn't work, in fact). I was actually trying to cut something out of craftroom which was giving me fits, no surprise, but after I had to restart the machine for the 3rd time it did this cartridge thing.

I had this exact same problem a few months ago,. CONTACT customer service. They replaced my Ink cartridges and that solved it. whether they were low or something smudged the contact ponts I don't know. But, it solved the issue.
Good Luck...by the way the Customer Service I got was EXCELLENT! Lisa

Hi there I too had the same problem, these catridges were new as far as I was concern, so called PC. Was asked how often I used my Imagine? Not alot, infact I told her the last time I did any printing was about 3-4 months ago . She said that could be my problem. The ink heads on either one of the ink cartridges could be dry from where I haven't been doing any printing and the machine thinks there is no ink cartridge inserted. So she kindly said that she will send me new ones and if I still had a problem to call back. Well new ones arrived a couple of days later (oh I live in the U.k) and my Imagine prints like a dream .

I had the same problem yesterday. But, only after I had successfully printed and cut one file. Printed but could not cut the second file and then I started getting the insert ink cartridge message. Can't do anything now! I use my Imagine several times a week and can't understand how it could print fine one second and not the next. Calling CS this morning too.

My Imagine did this also. After much stressing and calling customer support, I replaced one of my cartridges and now it works like a dream. I was so upset at the time, because I thought there was something terribly wrong with it and now I am one happy camper!!!

For KarmenBryant & KAthyRoscoe. I had the same problem with "missing ink cartridges" +- 2 weeks ago, there was for the tri-colour and the black ink cartridges. Here is what you do: "This error can occur when you have run out of ink or the print heads need to be cleaned. I can recommend first cleaning your print heads. If this does not work please change your ink cartridges. You can purchase HP ink cartridge 97 and 98. A great place to purchase them is www.123inkjets.com." This answer came originally from PCGena. I replaced my ink cartridges, and now Imagine is working again, no problem. so it should work for you, too. Hope this helps. thks

Replacing the tricolor ink cartridge fixed my missing ink cartridge error. I was printing/cutting then my machine suddenly quit & told me I was missing my 'print cartridges'. After trying everything I knew to do, I finally quit & went to bed. PCGena posted a response to my help plea, saying I might need to clean my print heads or replace the ink. I just replaced the black so I went after work Saturday & got the HP tricolor ink. WHen I turned my machine on, it said it was missing BOTH ink cartridges but once I installed the tricolor one, it worked again. WHEW!!

Why would the lack of ink mean it won't cut? I could see why no ink would equal no printing, but isn't a blade used to cut?
