Now that the imgaine has been discontinued, where are you finding the best places to purchase the ink carts? I've tried to find at my local Staples and HP doesn't seem to have it available online for purchase either.

Are you only using to cut now, or do you think there will still be ink available through other retailers?

Thanks for your help

If you find a resource, please let me know! The Cricut site has them, but they are expensive... No deals yet anyway.

I was going to suggest cricutmachine.com as they had both types for $4.99 in their bargain bin. But I just checked and they're sold out. So glad I got my order in!

I just checked Cricutdirect.com and they have them for $15.95 each.

BigGrin I buy mine off eBay. If you catch them right you can get great deals I have paid as little as $8.00 including S/H. I know this is an auction but you can get great deals if you look and wait. I also by most of my carts from eBay.

Just got off the phone w/ CS because my ink has gone bad. Whenever I print something black it's a purplish/bluish color. The person I spoke w/ said HP 97 or 98 are equivalent to the Imagine cartridges. PC is out of stock so she suggested going to office supply store and purchasing ink refills there. Has anyone used these w/ their Imagine? Just curious before I go out and buy one.

I get mine from EBay.

I was wondering which HP cartridges worked with the Imagine. Did they by chance mention which multi-color cartridge works?

I don't have an Imagine so don't really know what type ink it uses. However, if it is similar to HP printer ink, Costco now does refills in-store and it's much cheaper. For those of you who have one close by, it may be worth checking into.. Just a thought.

Purchased HP 98 & works in the Imagine. Didn't compare prices to eBay but Staples is selling it for $25.

Get the heck out of town! You tried it, and it worked?!?! BigGrin I just called PC to verify this before trying it myself and they told me not to (I can't say I was shocked). This news changes my life if it's true. Did the machine do anything differently when you put in a different cartridge?

Ha!ha! Yes, it worked just fine. I was a little hesitant when I opened the package because if it was a different size I'd be screwed. I compared the Imagine refill to HP 98 & it's the same refill other than different labels. After loading new ink refill I did the ink alignment & then started using it to print 12x12 papers. Worked perfectly.

So I looked up HP 97 the tri-color cartridge and found an image with the inkhead strip on it and low and behold they match...exactly. I compared to a cr12 tri-color cartridge. So I am hoping that this is true. Funny thing is I called CS a couple of weeks ago and asked about compatible HP inks...the young lady I got was under the impression that we could use any HP ink...I have several HP printers in the house and explained that each machine took different cartridges...she insisted I was wrong because they were usining the imagine inks in their HP printer in the office... and I asked her to please go check and find out which printer they were using the imagine cartridges in so I could at least get the correct one...she couldn't tell me the model of printer..so I basically said enough. I am going to write this down for future reference as I have a ton of the Imagine ink from the last sale.

So thank you for posting that you tried HP 98 as this is really hopeful that ink will be available should PC discontinue the Imagine.

Posted on the mainboard if you missed it:

PC customer service said HP97 & HP98 are the Imagine cartridges just with a different label and they work fine in the Imagine.

I live in the Uk and cannot find HP97 and 98 cartridges in any of my local stores. I have looked on line but I keep being asked to supply details of the printer and I do not know which HP printer they will work in. Can anyone help me please? I have only had my Imagine since last October so I am quite annoyed as I paid a lot of money for it! Thank you for any help.

Just a little sick irony......using other ink cartridges in your Imagine will void the warranty!

I just couldn't resist! LOL

This is interesting - it this PC offical confirmation that they will no longer be supplying ink for the Imagine?
Also am i right in saying that in the UK these cartridges are the same as HP 338 & HP343?
Because i am unable to find 97 & 98 anywhere in the UK

Many thanks!

Kathy - most of us are past the warrenty stage, so its just a bonus to find out what ink cartridges are compatable with the Imagine to be honest.

Does anybody else feel the same way as I do - let down badly by PC. We in the UK paid mega bucks for our Imagines and are now told that it's discontinued less than 2 years after its launch - and now we're having problems getting ink. What a letdown - PC don't deserve our custom!

I am glad I found this info. Thanks for posting it. The inks are a lot cheaper than the imagine ones and I feel let down that they didnt tell us sooner. Then again it sounds like someone has spoken out of turn as different answers are being given by different customer service people. Let down, hell yes!

Hi all,

The HP 338 & HP 343 are the right cartridges, my husband checked it out, fortunately we have a HP printer which takes these very cartridges, so really happy now.

Well I will be if someone could kindly tell us - we have watched video's etc, looked at instructions - Hubby is a Computer Technician - and can we work out how to get the blessed ink cartridges out - can we heck????? I have even resorted to asking the cat, and she's not the brightest light bulb in the store, so can only think we are no better.

Fangs a lot on this Halloween evening - hope you all have a spooky evening.

Hugs

There is a black bar that sits across the ink cartridges (depicted in the photo by the down arrows) that should drop down when you open the ink door. Then you just push up on the cartridges to get them out like any other printer. If that black bar does not drop, you will NOT get them out. You may have to do a format and restore in that case. Here's a pic of what it should look like. HTH

Try checking on your local eBay site, or if you are in Australia, check out www.cartridgesdirect.com.au. I used them once and my ink was delivered literally the next day which was really helpful. Good luck!
