Has anyone here read the "Flat Stanley" series? It is a really cute series about a boy who gets flattened by a buletin board, and his adventures afterwards. He is able to mail himself to visit a friend in california, and thus his adventures continue in new books! My friend and I are both reading the books to our classes and she just asked me to cut her some paper dolls since she doesn't have those carts. If anyone is interested, to make them so the kids can decorate and make their own flat stanley, I cut bodies out of white poster board (waaaaay cheaper than cardstock) at 5 1/2 inches (which makes them 4 inches across) so they fit into standard envelopes.

Anyone interested in taking Flat Stanley on an adventure? I am thinking of having my 3rd graders do this and then they can mail him out and we can map where he goes. Thanks!

I love Flat Stanley. My daughter loves that book. The kids each made their own flat stanleys of themselves and then wrote a letter, mailed the letter and self stanley to a relative asking them to take some pictures of where stanley is and goes with them for a week and to send them back. The kids then mapped them, learned about the various places that their stanley's had gone etc. Was great. We still have her flat stanley and pictures <for me to do a scrapbook page eventually.. :) >
