Nathen, I want to first say thank you for listening to everyones concerns. As you can tell we love our craft! To the point of an obsession in my case the hubby tells me!

To me a gallery where I can EASILY figure out how to upload some of my projects would be sooo appreciated!! I love looking at and getting ideas from all of our talented community!

I also love the idea of challenges. Again more ideas for me to use!! Plus I get my most creative when I do a challenge! I also liked the idea someone had about PC asking different crafters to design a project with your new cartridges. Everyone has a different style and we would be getting a wide variety of ideas. The hello thursday girls had a lot of great ideas but after a while I quit checking most of them out because it seemed I was seeing the same style each month. I think by picking a few new people from the board every 3 to 6 months would give us a real shot in the arm on ideas....which is my case is how I decide if i need a new cartridge or not! When I first joined the mb omgosh...the wonderful projects and ideas I saw!!! I so miss those days!
I really am hoping that we can get back to a positive board again!

One other thing that I would love to see changed....login. To be honest...anymore I don't even login most of the time! I sure wish you could fix it so that I was auto logged....I either forget to login or just feel like what I have to say doesnt really matter enough for me to log in. I'm not a big chatter type of gal..but I use to leave feedback and thanks and now it is something I very seldom do.

Thanks for listening. Good Luck in your new job here!

Mary Jean

This is how I would like to see the PROJECTS posted:

They could be on the MAIN PAGE, so ALL viewers/MB members/CIRCLE members see ALL the projects on the MAIN PAGE of the forums as they are posted.....in the order they are posted. The SUBJECT under the picture could be the name of the main cartridge used or merely a title of the project....whatever is desired. If a tiny picture would show up (is this a bitmap...not sure if that shows a small picture or not)...., one would know whether or not they are interested enough to go inside to see the blowup and the comments made by the poster. There would be NO dialogue in any of the projects other than that made by the person posting the project and that would be anything they want to say.....what inspired them to make the project, what they used (or not). Now, some people are very GOOD at describing everything they used on a project; others of us don't presume everyone wants to know that information until we are asked.

This could be enticing as CIRCLE members are posting projects of Exclusive Cartridges for more members to want to join the CIRCLE...when they can afford it and/or if they already can but don't know if they want to join the CIRCLE if they are enjoying certain projects with images they cannot buy anywhere on the market. It could be a DRAW for new members in the CIRCLE.......if the CIRCLE is going to remain after this next year. I think the regular MB members should GET to see the inspiration from the projects from CIRCLE members. AND, I think they want to be able to see them.

There could be a PM button within so anyone wanting to contact the person who made the project to find out any details could do so. If the person who made that project wanted to disclose further details on her original post, she could. OR, she could merely PM the person back to share the information.

This dialogue would only be seen if one CLICKED INTO the project. As the project is CLICKED INTO, there would be an automatic VIEW posted, with the # of views showing. Also, inside the project would be the name of the person who created the project.....not on the outside. I DO THINK IT WOULD BE GREAT, THOUGH, IF WE CAN KEEP SOME OF THE DT MEMBERS POSTING THAT THEY WOULD INCLUDE "DT:" AT THE BEGINNING OF THEIR PROJECT TITLES/SUBJECTS (ON THE PICTURE BEING SHOWN THAT WE HAVE TO CLICK ON TO GO INTO). AFTER ALL, THEY DO HAVE SOME CREDENTIALS AND IT WOULD BE NICE TO KNOW THEY ARE BRING INSPIRATION TO US AS ONLY THEY CAN.........AND THIS NOT JUST FOR THOSE DT PEOPLE, BUT FOR ANYONE WHO HAS CERTAIN CREDENTIALS. THEY WOULD GO THROUGH A PROCESS WITH PC TO HAVE THAT DESIGNATION ON THE OUTSIDE OF THEIR POSTS ON THE MAIN PAGE.

It's really demeaning to post a project that gets little or no attention (even though it gets the views) when you are one to post on many others' projects from time-to-time. Maybe our projects aren't as great as others but we feel they are..............I think we feel some just don't want to give us the time of day, as we have given them. The number of views makes us all feel good.

Perhaps as we post our projects, there could be a cross-reference of our names going into a gallery that shows all the posts of those projects made by a certain person. That way, we could come to the MB and show our family/friends the projects we have made over a year's time. We could also go to each person's gallery to find something we're looking for....we can usually remember who made a project we're very interested in.

I have always felt it counter-productive to have projects show up in the CHAT areas (Cricut Chat, General Chat in the CIRCLE, etc.!). They should be in one place only on the MB Main Page. In the past, up to today, they show up in the chat areas, (both sometimes as they are cross-posted) and then also in the various cartridge forums. It gets so confusing and it wastes my time to go into someone's project at least two times and sometimes three.........I know, that's my problem. It's still frustring to click into projects you've already seen.

Sorry if this is confusing; I've never been one to mince words or be able to put it all together all that good.

JMHO.

Thank you Nathan for asking these questions. I joined the Circle for the carts. Loved the idea. Visited the old MB and only once. This last year I had more time and visited the Circle site. Very Friendly and caring people were what I found. I also learned from the Bug Guides.
I am one person. Being on the MB (Circle) has increased my Carts by over 50 carts. The sharing, helping and encouragement have been a blessing. I have found that I do not need to read messages where the griping is. There have been many positive messages to enjoy. The challenges are great for me to see what to do and of course what cart I MUST have. I do not feel PC needs to award prizes. They are fun, credit is good and what ever is good for PC is most important.
Please consider sticky only for a small amount of time. Posting what is happening at PC frequently. Monitor the site. Provide access to cartridge booklets so we can see what each cart has. If paying someone to monitor is not cost effective for PC, the Circle Bug Guides have been very informative and would continue to be. Just post suggestions, rules, regs, and PC's desires for them to reference.

I read some of Thursday's discussions. Wow. You have quite an uphill walk to take. Good luck.

This is a great idea!BigGrin I would love to have an area like that! It would be great to have a seasonal area too. So many great projects are posted for Christmas, Thanksgiving, 4th of July, Halloween, etc... It is so hard to find them when you are looking for them. It would make it so much easier if we had a section with the categories you mentioned, and also add the holiday/ seasonal categories too. I know I would use those categories, and it would make it so much easier for us. Great suggestion!BigGrin

Hi Nathan,

Thank you for asking us MB members about what we would like to see on the MB. I'm very positive that with your help, MB members, BG, and PC. We can once again make this a great place to visit, post our projects, get help, get inspiration, and make friends.

I personally don't like the idea of a personal gallery. I think it will leave many MB members feeling left out. I think if someone wants to see more projects from a certain memeber you can always click on the link to that persons blog to see more. I do think you will increase your members if you have challenges and prizes (randomly picked). I don't think it's nice to pick the "best" when you have members that are new or not as experienced as others. If you offer something for free people come in droves. I see it on many blogs and also on YouTube. When there is a giveaway, the numbers increase. This is why they have them, it promotes their products and sales.

I like the cartridge library but if it's broken and people can't post then it needs fixing. If people prefer the cards, LO, Vinyl, and crafts library then maybe it needs to be broken down into more categories. I think there is a way to see a certain members work by clicking on his/her name? I don't use this feature because I like to see what everyone has done.

I also think it's a good idea to offer a little reward to members who post comments on members work. They give their time to make that person feel good. When someone feels good about what they have done, they will post more and spend more on products.

I would also like to see posts for updates and information on products all in one place, perhaps by product name.

I have never gotten an email from PC about anything! I'm now thinking my email has problems like many others. I've been a memeber since 2009.

Thank you for listening and good luck with improving this MB

Nathan, do you think you could encourage PC to allow us to convert our Reward Points for PC / Cricut Credit? We could then use the Credit to purchase PC Product that we want or need. I have over 12,000 Reward Points and nothing I want or need is on Rewards.

Thank you for your consideration.

I read this thread a while ago and felt I needed to come back and add a comment.

I for one would like the Bug Guide program to continue.

I am fairly new to cricut (Feb 2011)

I can not even begin to count the times I have been helped by Bug Guides.

They have been very helpful to me (as have other MB members).

I for one would miss having them.

Happy crafting!

Nathan,

In all honesty, i think you need to shut the message board down August 1.......... Why??? During the past 2-3 days many things have been bought to the forefront. Many things have been shared/stated that people never thought would see the public side of the message board.

I think closing the Message Board down while you formulate YOUR plan and a new community is the only way to give the Message Board and this online community a truly fresh start. the Circle sign ups could begin September 1 ............. Start the Message board with YOUR set of rules and terms of service you want to see in place and ENFORCE THEM consistently and swiftly. Add the stickies and the gallery people have requested?

This place reminds me of a junior high class that has gotten completely out of control. (I taught junior high for a good many years.) If you want to see this community work, I think a fresh start needs to happen for the community to grow and thrive and be creative! Enough is enough....... no more pink or green....... BigGrin no more secret societies and secret handshakesBigGrin ...... the only difference will be that some of us have decided to spend 80 bucks for a shopping/shipping discount and a cartridge!

I think this message board needs a time out.......... and i think you will never truly see a fresh start unless there's break from the past and a new beginning!!!

my 2 cents......

I agree with Kathy. I loved the one hour challenge. It is what got me crafting regularly. Kathy and the other members encouragement helped me become the crafter that I am today. I am so grateful.

1. I would like to see a photo gallery of projects - showcased by cartridge and theme. This way when you want to find birthday inspiration, you come to the message board, go to the gallery - click on birthday and you have the projects that people have done for birthdays. With the Coppermine photo gallery program you can do this and you can have a fun voting option for best project of the week.

2. Our one hour daily challenge was fun - we didn't need prizes, we just wanted to come and talk to our friends. It was so much fun. It also inspired me and a lot of other crafters to get projects done that we had been putting off for a long time.

3. Less bickering. Often I come on the board and so and so is complaining about this. Their are a lot of good things about Cricut and the products we love - let's talk about that.

4. The Bug Guides are very helpful. Kathy has helped me many times when I have had issues with my Cricut Imagine, E2, etc. In managing other forums for different things (not crafting) I know that moderators are key to keeping things running smoothly and trolls at bay. These hard working people need to be commended. It is not an easy job to do.

5. An online crafting chat once a month - where we can ask questions and share tips. We can do different focused chats but do this to help the newbie Cricut crafters learn to love their Cricuts, too. We do it for actor chats - it works really well.

6. The message board to have more organized threads - simplified if you would. The design is beautiful. Maybe just clean up a few threads. I also like the idea of adding back in projects and tips from the old message board. It was a great resource to us all.

Thank you for all that you are doing to improve our community!!

Hi Nathan, Thank you for attempting to help us out. Things will never be quite the same as it was in the beginning. I lurked for nearly a year before plunging and buying my first cricut, the baby, and joined in 2007. The board was hopping back then, and I learned so much. But, as time progressed, so did the crafts and the wonderful crafters. They started blogs, and different groups...and we have what is the MB today. I really don't have suggestions for improving it since you can't 'improve the people using it'. This is just my 2-cents:

For one thing, I miss watching the "cricut show" as we always called it. I even taped the infomercial for the expression (missed taping the original), and every so often I watch it just for the pleasure and simplicity of it. It brings back the hope and joy of owning such a unique crafting toy.

I have found most of the Bug Guides extremely helpful. I still cannot use the CCR, and I find my Special Edition E2 difficult to use and only use it when I want something cut from the 4 preloaded carts. I also own the Cuttlebug (never use it, but it was a must have after reading and seeing crafts on the MB) and I have the green E which I love Love

When I am at work full time, 5 days a week, at lunch time I can jump on the MB to read, but we are not supposed to sign into any web site....so I guess I am at fault for reading and not replying/posting to items. I also cannot look at creations if you need to open this site, go into this blog....I can only check out the posted creations. Not sure if you could create a forum for people to post photos that others do not have to open to see. I also would not be available for live chats unless they are held on a weekend or in the evenings. When I get home from work, there is usually too much to do to jump on the computer...so I seldom post anymore at all. But, I too, have mixed feelings about crafters posting. A lot post more on their personal life than on crafting anymore....I guess it's how someone feels...if their 'friends' can't take the time to listen, then who will? So, asking people to stick to personal topics vs crafting topics won't happen...but it would be beneficial for those of us who don't have time to lurk around a lot, and just want ideas to have specific topics to read, if there were different forums and MB posters would follow them. If I recall, in the beginning it was stated somewhere (maybe just by Admin Becky) to use OT in front of your topic if it was not about cricut crafting... I always watched for it. Now, some topics say "boy am I mad"/ "can you believe this?".... and I completely skip those.

I would like to be able to open the library and print out the handbooks on 8 1/2 X 11 pages for my notebook (I have most of the carts I own printed out that way so I can see the handbook without having to open the boxes.) Most of the time when I do try to open one before purchasing it, there is either nothing there or it takes forever to open and I just give up.

Rewards needs updated, and maybe consider postage coming out of the coupon points too.

This will be a huge task for you...and I'm sure most of us don't expect it to be cleared up overnight. You may not be able to control people talking about other companies, or people selling cartridges that have been linked to their gypsy,or just in general not following the guidelines of a crafting MB, but we are glad to hear you are giving it a try. We appreciate anything you can do to help us.

Keep on crafting !

And, again, THANK YOU NATHAN.

There needs to be a forum where only PC employees post the current updates and current fixes for the machines. This should be done by the ones who are heading these projects. No more "We are working on it." No members should be allowed to post on this board or stickies. It's just a board for current PC news.

Gallery- TwoPeas, SCS, Scrapbook.com all have well run galleries. Nobody has to click on a little paper clip to see a project and risk their computer getting a virus. Nobody has to weed through posts just to click on one with no project but a post telling people to visit their blogs to see the project.

BugGuides- You have one Bug Guide over here that is known for her bullying that is talked about on several major scrapbook forums and social networking sites for her bullying. The Bug Guide program needs to be looked at and fixed.

Members should not be bullied here at all. One warning by PC and then banned if it happens again. If they post with a different user name and continue the bullying then you guys need to step up with some legal action. Cyber bullying is a crime. Your company needs to stop it. Your members should not have to take their own legal action at their expense because you can't control your board. That's what I had to do. Members should feel safe to post here. On the old board we used to have teenagers come to the board. I would not let any teenager come to this board now.

Agreed - a thumbnail of a project so you can tell its what you are looking for before you open it (and you can tell if you've SEEN it so you're not constantly opening up threads over and over looking for new inspiration). I also get frustrated with posts that only have a link to a blog...not even a picture of what we're going over there to see.

To add to this - the pre-determined "tags" must be promptly updated by PC.

To me the logical place would be at the beginning of each product subforum - i.e. Expresssion sub forum - respective information stated and locked where it can't get clogged with responeses. This would be updated by pc as needed so that we know it is the most current and correct information. This would probably cut down on the repeditive questions considerably.

I know I am probably in the minority but I don't facebook, blog (although I love to visit others craft blogs), twitter, or any other social media stuff. Just not my thing. But it seems that whatever is the "Official" place to find accurate, timely information should be a cricut site and if all these other places have the same info, so be it but at least let us know where is the "official" place to get this information and know that it is the latest and correct info.

I have also asked for this for quite a few years now here or on the website. BJR.

I have yet to download any of my creations because frankly I do not know how.
I don't belong to any of the photo download places.
I don't know how to make my photo a smaller size.
I would like to suggest that a sticky be put up with detailed step by step instructions on how to do this.
Maybe it would include some of the different ways so we could pick the one we feel comfortable with.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who hasn't posted simply because I don't know how.

Thank you Nathan and everyone at PC for listening and helping when you can.

Happy crafting!

Nathan, thanks again for listening to all of us.

I would like for the cartridge library to be updated when the new carts come out and to be able to register them when we get them. I have several cartridges that i can't register because 1. they aren't there or 2. I can't find them in the list.

I have so many carts to register, I have lost track of what needs to be registered.

I have no trouble redeeming the rewards, but can't register my carts.

Again, thanks for listening.

I thought of another idea ... can we get a LIKE Button added ... it's great to have the THANK button for when someone helps you but a LIKE button would be great for when someone post a picture of a project, offers good crafty advice, makes a good suggestion, etc.

I realize this is not a MB issue but you (Nathan) did ask for positive program questions, issues, etc.

I would love for my Cricut Jukeboxes to work with CCR.

I love how it makes crafting with lots of different cartridges at the same time easy without having to plug and unplug them when I use Design Studio. (but my DS takes 953 seconds...that's 15 minutes... to open but that's another issue. lol)

I literally hold my breath when I put them in and out now.
I have a lot of money invested in my 126 cartridges and many of them are no longer available.

I have not linked my cartridges to CCR because as I understand it they can not be unlinked.
If this has changed I'd love to hear about it from PC.
In the event my family needs to sell my cartridges I'd like for them to not have to worry if they are linked or not.

Thanks again for your time.

Happy crafting!

Nathan , hope you are a religious man because you are going to be tested like Jobe.

I think there should be a Tech forum for all basic questions / fixes (FAQ if you would) for each machine. Then when there are updates or fixes it should be posted there under each machine. A notification sticky should be placed in this forum telling people to check the Tech forum when updates/ fixes come out.

I would also like to see videos on how to put pictures of our work on to the board, maybe a monthly or quarterly project video that highlights carts or machine functions and have a contest that goes along with it.

I know you have a hard job a head of you but I do feel there needs to be more official input from PC. Once they let the Moderators go I think we felt there really wasn't any place or person to turn to when people felt misunderstood.

You have got to take the bull by the horns and turn it around, there has to be more positive energy put on to this board and It has to come from the Top. Why doesn't the new head honcho Pop on and say HI!(Unsure RollEyes maybe not a good idea right nowLOL ) at least post a sticky introducing himself to us and stating where he hopes to lead the company. I think members really need to be reassured.

This is truly a fun place to be Most of the time. I miss the excitement of popping in as seeing what's going on.
Thanks again for reading this .

I have read through the posts and been watching the board the last few days and at this point I think the only thing that is going to make it better is.....

BURN IT!! BURN IT ALL AND EVERYONE WITH IT!!

*okie falls out chair laughing*

Okay totally just kiddin! There are some great ideas and I tried to pay close attention and "THANK" the ones I felt hit my own likes the most.

You remind me of Steel Magnolias, read this quote from the movie:

M'Lynn: No! No! No! It's not supposed to happen this way! I'm supposed to go first. I've always been ready to go first! I-I don't think I can take this! I-I don't think I can take this! I-I just wanna *hit* somebody 'til they feel as bad as I do! I just wanna hit something! I wanna hit it hard!
[continues sobbing]
Clairee: Here!
[grabs Ouiser by the shoulder and positions her in front of M'Lynn]
Clairee: Hit this! Go ahead M'Lynn, slap her!
Ouiser Boudreaux: [taken aback and confused] Are you crazy?
Clairee: Hit her!
Ouiser Boudreaux: Are you *high*, Clairee?
Truvy: [in a frightened tone] Clairee, have you lost your mind?
Clairee: We'll sell t-shirts sayin' "I SLAPPED OUISER BOUDREAUX!" Hit her!

When I first came to this board, we were all so excited because we all had baby bugs and just a few carts. We really had to think outside the box to create the images we wanted. The cart forums cannot be accessed by all to post their projects in, some members have complained and it hasn't been fixed. So lots of beautiful projects but not a working cart forum for everyone's accessibility. We need something that is easy and works a lot better. Lots of people have moved on for various reasons, some are busy on their blogs promoting Cricut almost full time. PC gave a lot of the product to these talented ladies and gents to give away on their blogs and I think that took away from the buzz on this message board. I come here for crafting mainly and for ideas and to connect to other crafters who Cricut. I know there are tons of media like facebook and twitter but PC needs to take care of the people at home first, on your message boards. You also need moderators that work for PC like we use to have. Centralize your giveaways on your boards on your site. Centralize your announcements on your site. Centralize your site. Make these boards the place to come for inspiration and information about Cricut. Your site is getting lost in the shuffle. We, your loyal customers are getting lost in the shuffle. There is nothing more frustrating than finding out wonderful news about Cricut everywhere else but at home.

Home is where the heart is.

I agree.. I have been here since early on and don't visit half as much as I used to. Partly because life has changed, partly because I have to sift through everything to see what I am interested in. I also agree that PC should keep the giveaways and promos for the loyal MB members. Not everyone has the time to run a blog, blog hop and participate in several different contests.

I realize that the MB needs to grow with the times, but for the love of the cricut, bring the MB back to the real reason we are here...CRAFTING!!

Hi Nathan. You've had a busy past week it looks like.

Ideas
There are so many different topics and subtropics on the message board. I think it makes it more confusing for new users and time consuming. Ie you can post a project as a layout, in the specific cartridge forum etc. I like the machine ones as those are good for technical help.

I think just cards, layouts, home decor, classroom, knifty knitter, etcwould be great. Maybe a way to make the cart used part of the post ( drop down menu? ) and a better search engine feature.

Some moderators that are overseen with specific rules and known so that if something needs to be reported it can be. I've moderated boards and know its not an easy task and easily a full time job.

I'm on both sides of the board and fine with both or one. The main reason I like the circle side is because it has more a crafters atmosphere to me that you're wanting. I guess to get a clean slate rules need to be in place and enforced. No enforcement and people quickly realize it.

My thoughts for now
Thanks!
Khrista

I have been bouncing around on a few threads tonight and can see how out of hand things have gotten. Personally, I try to stay away from drama and am glad that I haven't been able to frequent the boards like I used to. I think that the best thing PC and you can do is shut the board down for a few days, revise the terms of use and when people sign back in, have a new agreement that they need to accept. JMHO

Did someone mention that cricut.com doesn't have all the handbooks available to download.

Some are available in the shopping area, but there are several that are totally missing (Go Canada is but ONE example). Having them in one location would be great - but at the minimum, PLEASE have them all available either in the "information" area OR in the "shopping" area.

As I read through just a sample of posts, I realize that somewhere along the way, this idea was lost.

I understand that a lot of this stems from frustration many of you feel that we, Provo Craft as a company, have not been as attentive as we should be. Many are ready to throw in the towel and give up completely, some already have.

For those who want to see these message boards improve to the purpose of what they were intended for, I will need your help!

I am going to be meeting with the team here at PC on Monday to discuss what changes we need to make and hopefully I will be able to make an announcement by the EOD Monday or first thing Tuesday (I'll at least give a status update). What I would like from you are suggestions on ways to improve the message boards.

WHAT I DON'T WANT FROM YOU:

  • Complaints about individuals on the message boards
  • Discussions about how horrible things are because of X
  • Negative or sarcastic remarks towards others suggestions

I understand that there may be programs currently in place that you feel are not working and I welcome your feedback. Please provide your reason why you think the program is not working. I do want to encourage positive ideas on how we, both us as a company and you as a community, can improve this message board experience.

Please add your suggestions to this post and show your support to suggestions made through adding your "thanks" to that post.

(Now I need some sleep.)

~Nathan

I don't understand why some can't follow the instructions in your post.
It is clear to me. I wish you luck in making changes to this MB.
Best Wishes!!

I cannot find:

Out of Character
Cricut Craftroom basics
Good Old Days

In addition, could we have all the handbooks in PDF format? This makes it very easy to put it on our Nooks, Kindles and IPads. Thank you so much.

We received Out of Character as our last quarter cartridge and we can't register it yet to our account.

There are several more that are seemingly nowhere to be found. I just went looking for several CM handbooks for a customer and they are now all removed in the cartridge section and not all of them are in the library section either. Not sure why they would be removed from there. I always look at the handbook prior to making a purchase of a cartridge to see what all is on there.

Thanks for mentioning this, Sandy.

Have a great day!
