I recently had to get a new laptop and cant seem to get my design studio to download to it and havent had a chance to call customer service yet. Anyone have any ideas??

Anyone have any ideas?? Make sure you're not trying to install off the Design Studio cd, as that is the old version and not compatible with Windows 7. Instead, download the latest version from: http://www.cricut.com/cds/Update.aspxYou'll find two downloads at that page. The first is the actual DS program and contains all the carts released up to November 2009. Download and install that first. Once you've done that then you can download and install the second file. That will give you all the carts from December 2009 onwards. You might need to disable your anti-virus program if you're having trouble downloading. Once you have everything downloaded the program will be running in trial mode. The serial number off the DS cd envelope probably won't work (you'll get an error saying that the program is installed on another computer) and you'll then have to give PC a call. You will have to call customer service to be able to put it on another computer

Thanks for the replies! I was trying to use an old disc and it just would not download anything. I am downloadin now and will call customer next week. Have a great weekend!

 is this also the case of it being lost due to repairs on same computer it was originally installed on?

Download and install the latest version of DS (from the link above) then give PC a call. They'll either reset your serial number or give you a new one. (Make sure you have your current serial number available when you call.)

I too have had to get a new laptop with Windows 7 OS.
Did what you said as far as downloading the link but am having problems with the driver 'not installed at all or improperly '
Where do I go from here?

Narelle, I have clicked on the website you posted in teh first response and it just takes me to the home page with no download of design studio. I am having soooo many problems trying to get DS back on my puter.  Any help would be appreciated.

I am glad to see Design Stidio will work with Windows 7.
Unfortunately there is no download link on the Cricut website. So you will have to call them to get the proper link and give them your serial number so they can give you a new one.
I sent them an email a few days ago I haven't heard anything yet but they say it could take 3 or 4 days to get an answer. If I don't hear in a few days I will be calling.
Good luck to all of yoiu that need to upgrade your computer.
