My Cricut Create turns on ok but when I insert a cartridge the machine won't work, Dials & key pad not responding! Can anyone help?

Hi, my wife is having exactly the same problem (only today strangely) - are you using (or have used)a gypsy? - it still works with the G but locks up using only with the cartidge. Several procedures for Cricut reset but they don't work for us. Seems like a firmware issue to me but hopefully Cricut will come up with a solution - software for these machines seems shaky all round.

Following on from above, I have found that if you plug your Cricut directly into your PC,install the drivers, the Cricut will then work even if the USB lead is unplugged. Unfortunately once you switch the Cricut off, the problem resurfaces. Seems to be a USB problem in the last firmware update?

I connected Create to the Cricut Craft Room and was able to cut with it. Create still won't work independently, switches on but won't accept cartridges

I haven't tried Gypsy yet as I am very wary about using it with Create.

I connected Create to Cricut Design Studio and updated Firmware from there. Create works independtly again.

I've had all of these same problems! I am so glad to hear I am not alone! My Create asks my Gypsy to update the firmware each time I hook up to it. BUT the cartridges will not work in the Create. PROVOCRAFT: are you out there?

Hi Erin, try downloading Cricut Design Studio & update Firmware for your Create Machine. It worked for me. Cartridges working now.

ProvoCraft is out there {in Utah}. But if you want to talk to them, you'll have to call. The MB isn't set up for PC to answer CS questions/issues but for crafters to help/share/inspire each other. If your Create won't work after updating the firmware through Design Studio, give PC a call and CS will troubleshoot while you are on the phone with them.

Hi, thanks for the help - downloaded & installed trial version of DS and updated Cricut Create from there. It now works with Gypsy and independently. Problem solved using a workaround but PC really need to solve the original issue.
