I've been obsessing over getting a cricut cake but have been hearing of some issues about it.
But one of the worst is that it is no different from an expression. I was thinking that the cake was a LOT different in that it was made with all food safe materials whereas the expression is not.
Also, I have a Gypsy that I use with my little bug - I'm a scrapbooker too - and am wondering if the issues have been resolved with this too.
Please advise.

Please advise. The major workings of the Expression are the same as the Cake. But the Cake is definitely made from food safe materials. It also uses a different blade housing and mat to the regular Expression. The only issue I remember reading about with the cake is getting the consistency and thickness of the frosting etc just right to get a good cut. But once that's worked out I bet it's a great machine.

Hi!
I use my Gypsy with my Cricut Cake machine. I just design my cuts on the Gypsy, plug it into the cake and cut away. So much easier than moving cartridges around.
I use Wilton's premade fondant. I know others use different brands and home made, but I've been successful with Wilton's product.

 I have been scrapbooking since I was seven years old. I really wanted a Cricut Cake for Christmas and I got one with some cake cartridges to go with it. I just was wondering if all my other cartridges that I have from my Cricut Expression works with it too? I really don't want to ruin it. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?

Kaylyn - you can use the any of the Cricut carts except for the imagine ones in the Cake machines.

Thank you all for the advice I really appreciate it. That will help soooo much. My sister's 21st birthday cake will be perfect...lol (at least I hope)haha  I will go and try it out now. :)
