Hello all....

Paula, moving furniture again huh? Maybe measure before hauling it down stairs. But if it fits, it sounds like it will be just what you need next to the downstairs TV. How did you do with the leaves? Yes the siding is fixed. So far no need to rake leaves. I did mow again today then readied the mower for winter and put it away.

Pat, glad you are ready for whatever Sandy brings. Hope you don't loose power. That is a good thing about underground wiring! I am envious on your progress on your holiday cards. I hope to get a good start on mine next week.

Carrie, your Pink Zumba at the country club looked like lots of fun!

Laurie, I have never made French Onion Soup either, but I love eating it! Hope yours turns out great.

Nancy, any luck on the search for an ice shack?

The interview went well yesterday. I think they are going to offer me the job, but said will call me next week sometime. They haven't decided on a compensation package yet. They said they couldn't match what I was getting which is a real bummer. So I have been doing more on line searches tonight to see if there is anything else. I just want all this uncertainty over with!

Today I also finished the cleaning/sweeping etc of both garages. Glad to have that chore done. had Cody help me with the final load to the landfill and one to Goodwill. Then we went out for lunch.

The kids got quite a kick out of the coffin treat boxes.

Tomorrow I am going with a friend to visit her daughter. Should be a nice relaxing day!

Good morning ladies!!

A quick pop in before we leave.

We are going to DS's concert in Muskegon, just south of the cottage.
He has to be there two and a half hours early so we will drop him off and meet up with my sister, nephew and dad for lunch. Then we will all go to the concert (I think) As far as I know all three of them are going. It will be the first time any of them have seen him in a concert. BIL and SIL are coming to the concert too I think. Pretty cool. Of all of the places they could be performing it's some place that we have relatives.

Will catch up tonight. Probably won't be home before nine.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday. Pat, hope the bad weather doesn't come your way.

good morning.... watching the winds start to kick up and the temps are lower today. This storm is definitely as bad as they are predicting. It is just a matter of what happens and where. Even though I am about 100 miles inland it isn't going to make a lot of difference with the winds being so wide spread.
Trying to keep in touch with family in the OBX (NC) and also the ones in CT, MA and NYC. Loving FB for that.
Laurie, I don't care for onion soup, but Jim loves it. I should make him some. I am making the squash soup today. Hope it is good.
Rhonda, good job on the garage. I would have liked to have gotten to our garage, but if the weather settles down for a couple weekends, we may still be able to get to it. We only have a single car garage, but it is nice when we can get one car off the driveway when it snows.
Have a nice visit with your friend today and her daughter. Glad the coffin boxes were a hit.

We are hoping to vote today, but there were 2hr lines yesterday, so not sure we will. I also want to stop by Staples and get envelopes for the society mailing next week. I want to go ahead and get the labels on them and be ready when I get the file for printing later this week.

I am also going to move the food in the freezer in the kitchen to the big freezer in the garage. It will stay cold much longer out there if we should happen to lose power. I will use the inside freezer for water.

Last night I got the sentiments printed and since I am sure the scrap-together tomorrow will be canceled, I will just work on my cards at home. Jim will likely work from home for a couple days.

good afternoon everyone!

Rhonda, hope the job offer is one that you will be able to take.

Pat, I've been watching the storm on weather.com and on WMURTV in NH. I have a friend who goes to OBX and she is posting updates. Angry storm that Sandy. Stay warm, dry and safe. I still haven't heard is my Niece's flight is one that is cancelled.

The French onion soup is delish. I started with a package mix but instead of just adding onions, I browned them in butter first. First time I ever used my broiler too. Oh and the first time I've ever used ramekins. Firsts for me today!

Cold and dreary here. Should have some sunshine later though

Later!

Good afternoon.
Pat stay inside and safe. I don't know what the forecast is for you but we are under a high wind warning with possible flooding and sleet and freezing rain during the night Monday. They are worried about losing power here because we have nothing but high wires and lose power when there are lesser winds. So I imagine it will be much worse in your neck of the woods.

I worked on baby layouts all day today after church this morning. I think I'll just use a coupon and go buy a book to put them in and then I'll have a nice gift for my hair stylist.

Paula enjoy the family and the concert.

Laurie if you need help with Zumba routines there are a ton on Youtube. I love french onion soup. It sounds delish. I made chili this morning. It seemed fitting as it's still raining here and there is no end in site. Yuck!

Rhonda I sure hope you find the perfect job. There aren't many to choose from right now. Glad the kids liked the coffin boxes. I am going to cut one here soon for Jen. She loves all things Halloween.

Well DD Jenna is now a homeowner. They finally accepted her offer on a condo. She will close on it November 29. The best part of this is that she will have a two car garage and the miata can be housed there for the winter and I can get rid of the storage.

Well we are meeting friends for dinner here shortly. Have a wonderful evening.

Hi friends...I am so happy to hear about the good news of the impending job, Rhonda. I truly hope it works out. And, you know, even if the benefits package isn't as good, it IS a job. If a better benefits package (and job) come along, you can always make the change. But, having a job is better than no job at all.

Nancy, so glad you got your mom moved with as little stress as possible. It sounds like the new nursing home is a positive.

Laurie, your new title of Zumba-ista is making you quite happy! I'm so glad you are lovin' the Curves position!! How are things overall with Dion? On FB, he sounds really happy and relaxed...moreso than I've noticed in a long time!

Pat, your purging and work is paying off with you having the space to get ready for the upcoming storm.

Congratulations to Jenna on the new condo, Carrie! I'm so happy she can house your Miata, too! That will be a plus all-around!!

As for me, I have been working very hard to keep up with things at school. It's paying off, and I actually feel reasonably content right now. I have 3.5 more weeks of work before my 6.5 week vacation that includes Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. Yes, I am quite happy about all that! But, I want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row before leaving because when I return I will hit the ground running with a new unit that has never been taught (by me) before. It is a trial run that is being taught this year for the first time. Three of my colleagues are teaching it beginning in a week and then another colleague and I will be teaching it in January and February. There is quite a bit of pressure on us to do it properly and lots of planning and preparation has gone into it. I will very likely do lots of prep work to help my colleagues during November to pull it off, because however I help them will ultimately help me as well.

Terry and I continue our discussion of me retiring this year instead of next. I am so incredibly tired. This would be a good year to retire because there are many huge changes taking place next year and I'm not sure I want to undergo them. This unit of which I speak is one of them. I need to make an appointment with one of the retirement counselors and find out what the ramifications of retiring one year earlier than anticipated will do to me. The problem is that the last several years my salary has been cut each year by budget cuts, so there's no telling how much my retirement will actually be anyway. So, the best idea is to talk to a retirement counselor.

Anyway, that's what is going on here. Everyone out there stay safe with that huge storm. I'll keep my eye on the weather for you.

Good evening everyone! Quiet in here today.

Carrie, I have watched a ton from YouTube but I also have access to the Zumba Instructor Network so I can see actual videos in the circuit too. I've been watching so many videos! Lots of practice. I'll be ready for our first class! Congrats to Jenna for becoming a homeowner and for a new spot for the Miata.

Lizzy, I'm sure there's lots to think about before retiring. So your next vacation should be a good one with being off for all the holidays. We're not sure about Thanksgiving yet because Kris is going to be between houses again. They have their house in North Canton up for sale because Matt took a position in Decatur, IN and it's going to depend on if their Oh house is sold and whether they have an OH house. We just don't know yet. If I had the room, I'd have them all here. We are hoping we can have one more Thanksgiving at thier house in OH. But when it's all said and done, they will be much closer once they move. And you are right...D is much more relaxed and happy. Right now I have my own Mr. Mom LOL

Pat, how's it going over your way?

Watching the World Series hoping that the Tigers will win.

Have a great Monday everyone!

Later!

Hello ladies!

We had a really nice day.
Got on the road on time. My sister and BIL rode with us. We met my sister, nephew and dad for lunch. Then wasted a bit of time. (my dad, sister and I went to goodwill. we had three cars so we went three different ways) I got two new tops, a jacket and 8 scrapping magazines. Then we went to the concert. My BIL, his wife and her dad (who we are close to because her folks hung out with my in-laws and we have our holiday get togethers, and lots of cookouts, up there together) After the concert we went out to pizza with them. The concert was great too.
A guy that I graduated with plays in the band from up there so after the concert I looked for him and chatted a bit.

Pat and Carrie it sounds like your both in for some nasty weather.

Pat, good plan, moving the freezer food to the garage freezer.

Carrie, woohoo for Jen!!! Tell her congrats (and good luck, haha). Is this the place you liked but needed work? What an exciting time for her!
Sounds like you are making great progress on the baby album!

Tay's GF got to go to O.K. with the band for the Notre Dame/OK game. They are on the 16 hour long bus ride and it broke down. ugh!! Don't know where they are but they weren't scheduled to get home till 4 a.m. as it was. It's going to be a tough school day tomorrow!

Lizzy!!!!! I missed you!!! Love
Glad things are going well at school!! What a great vacation you will have with all those holidays off!! yippee!
I think consulting the retirement counsler is a very wise idea. They deal with those issues and know the ins and outs.

Hi Laurie!
We are rooting for the Tigers too. Sure wish they could win tonight. I would feel bad for them if it ends up being a sweep. Crying
Glad D is doing so well.
I have a french onion soup recipe that I have never made. We got it from a restaurant that had good soup and I think it says to cook the onions in butter too.

Rhonda, how was you friend day today? Hope you enjoyed it.
It sounds you were very busy with your outside chores and got a lot done. It's nice that Cody could help you.
The new piece of furniture is supposed to go upstairs on the right of the fireplace but we will see.

I am going to go watch the game a bit closer since this may be it....

good evening friends.. been a long day, but a good one so far. Light rain is falling right now, but no real winds. They kick up every now and then, but nothing bad yet. Key word is "yet". We went over to vote after lunch (they opened at noon), but the lines were out the door and wrapped around the building. We decided to try again maybe tomorrow or after the storm passes on Wed. We did go to Staples to get the envelopes for the society mailing coming up. I will get the mailing labels on them having that part out of the way. It also gives me things to do if we lose power.
Speaking of.. we don't typically lose power. All our lines are underground. Not like in the District and older neighborhoods where trees come down and take down the lines. Our immediate area doesn't have flooding either.
Carrie, your bad weather is going to clash with the hurricane winds, causing snow (blizzard) in the mountains and even some flurries in the county next to us.
Jim's cousin in the OBX has been posting pictures on FB from there all day. We are still very concerned about the winds we will get.

Lizzy, glad things are going well at school and I can see why you are looking towards to vacation. 5 1/2 weeks is great. I hope youcan get some good advice from the counselor.

Laurie, the squash soup turned out good. It is a little bland, but we aren't sure what we would do different. It called for curry which we don't care for. It also made a LOT, so I may try some other seasonings in the extra. It also had celery, apples and onions.

Carrie, congratulations to Jenna on becoming a homeowner. I'll bet she is excited. And nice it came with *storage for the QtnSasy*. Good progress on the baby pages. I worked on my card parts. Decided I needed to mat the sentiments, so I cut those while watching the weather channel and then the game.

Paula, sounds like you had a fun day. I saw on TWC that this storm will reach as far as the Great Lakes and even WI. Not as bad as we are getting it, but still.....

Well, I think I am going to go to bed. Tomorrow is going to get messy as the storm comes ashore and then through the night. I will be glad for Sandy to be done. Jim is working from home tomorrow since the Government is closed. Probably will work from home Tues also.

Good morning!

Rhonda I am glad your interview went well. Sorry the benefit/pay won't be what you are making. I hope you can see what is out there before they call and you have to make a decision. Are there a number of jobs available in your field right now? I agree with Lizzy about having a job, of course that depends on your comfort zone about not having a job and if things would work out if you didn't. WTG on getting your garage cleaned.

Pat I hope Sandy doesn't impact you too much and you are able to get your cards done. I imagine most people will be home today as Sandy hits.

Carrie that is great news for Jenna. Is the one you told us about a few weeks ago or is this a different one? I imagine she is excited to have her own place! WHat size baby album did you make? I hope Sandy doesn't impact you too much either. I hope you don't lose power.

Paula it sounds like you day was a great one. Bummer about Tay's GF though. WHen did she make it back?

Laurie I like french onion soup but have never made it. I love it with the french bread and the cheese on top! Yummy!

Lizzy good to hear from you! WTG keeping up at work! WHen you say you would retire this year are you saying at the end of 2012 or at the end of the school year with this group of students? I hope the retirement adviser can give the answers you need to make that decision. You wouldn't think a year would make a huge difference, but I suppose it can.

Well DH made his decision on his ice shack. We will just have to go look at one more to make sure that is the right one. It will be a while before he needs it, but they tend to sell out quickly.

We ran some errands on Saturday and on Sunday we worked a little more in the basement. Rick organized and I went through another tub. We ended up with another box for Good Will. I like doing a little at a time. It isn't so overwhelming! I also have a couple of things to list on craigslist.

I already have my halloween projects planned for the week. I did that yesterday too.

I hope today goes well. I got very little sleep last night. I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. I even got up for a bit and then went back to bed. It didn't help. I don't feel overly tired, but I should be!

I hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning.

I am watching FOX news with the constant updates on the storm. This is a massive monster. Sure hope everyone stays safe and follows the advic of the experts.

Nancy I like the little at a time too. Sometime this week I am going to tackle the pantry. It's a huge mess. What kind of Halloween crafts are you doing this week? The news is reporting the whole towns are canceling Halloween. sure hope the kids have fun.

Pat the chef at our club makes squash soup every now and then and it is good, very rich. I wonder what the difference is that yours is sort of bland. Maybe another spice instead of the curry. Garlic? I saw the snow totals in the mountains. We are supposed to get sleet, and freezing rain. I'd rather have the snow. Hope you get out to vote. I always do the mail ballot. And this year I will be in another poll all day, not my own.

Paula what have you heard about Tay's GF? Did the bus get fixed yet? Have you figured out the entertainment center yet?

Lizzy when my mom retired she did substitute teaching afterwards at a different school district. She said it was easier. Sure hope you figure out the best solution for you.

Laurie you seem so ready and excited to teach the Zumba. It is fun. I too sure wished the Tigers would win but it wasn't meant to be.

Well I am off to Zumba and then to work at Headquarters again today. Hoping to find time to work on the baby pages. I'd like to get this done and move on or back that is to Rome. We have a high wind warning here, 55+ mph.

Carrie what kind of impact will you get from the storm? I know you said winds and sleet, but have your area schools and governments offices closed down like so many?
We are marble painting (to make spiderwebs), a Halloween color sheet, and a monster mash sticker sheet. It is actually a 12x12 scrap booking sticker sheet. I found it at Tuesday Morning for 2.99 for 25 of them. It is a big spiderweb with spiders, flies and halloween sayings they get to put on it.

Nancy here is the update on the weather from Sandy in our area. It is from NOAA. They haven't taken into account that it has been raining here for several days straight now.

*** Wind Impact - Monday and Tuesday ***

* High Wind WARNINGS are in effect for central, northeast, and east-central Ohio. Tree and power damage is expected through the warning area. The greatest impacts will be in NE Ohio.

* Wind Advisories are in effect for ALL OTHER AREAS in Ohio. Scattered wind damage is expected across much of the state.

* Monday night - Sustained winds of 35-40 mph, with gusts to 70 mph will be common in the warning area. Gusts to 60 mph are expected in the advisory area.

* Tuesday - Continued high winds, but slowly diminishing in the late afternoon to below warning criteria. Gusts to 30 mph are likely through Tuesday night.

** In addition to high-end wind damage, Significant flooding is expected along the shoreline.

Pat are you still OK? Do you still have power? I have looked on Facebook but haven't seen you on there either.

Carrie, I didn't realize you were so affected by Sandy! Stay safe and try to stay dry.

Pat, hope you are weathering the storm. I have been trying to keep up with it's progress, but can't really tell where it is going, who is affected and how bad. I am keeping all in my prayers.

Nancy, the Halloween projects for the kiddos sound like fun. That was a great buy on the sticker sheets. Hope you are able to get the ice shack you want!

Paula, glad the day went to well yesterday. And you found some goodies at goodwill while waiting!

Lizzy, I hope you are able to visit with retirement counselor. That will make it so much easier to make your decision about retirement. So glad you are keeping up with things at school and are looking forward to your time off. That is awesome that you will have all three holidays off. Enjoy!!

Laurie, glad the onion soup turned out good. I may have to give that recipe a try!

Pat, I would like the recipe for your squash soup. I want to try new recipes with new (to me) ingredients. I have never cooked with squash so that fits perfectly.

I still have not heard anything about the job, so I just put in my resume at a couple of other jobs. So the wait continues.

Hello ladies!

It is windy here! We are supposed to have high winds and large waves on Lake MI.
Nothing compared to what is going on by Pat and Carrie too.

Today I ran to the grocery store and worked on some page layouts. I have dinner for tomorrow in the crock pot, just have to turn it on tomorrow. It's monster house so I thought I should have something easy. DS isn't working tomorrow so he will go with me again. It looks like his job is about over for the season.

We went and picked up the entertainment center. It is sooooo heavy. I think we are all hurting from it. It is a really nice piece. Doesn't really go with our decor and Cathy (decorating friend) will probably flip out. (I haven't told her I got it, hehehe) We wamted something that we could put all our componets in with a smoked glass or frosted glass front so the remotes would still work. We were thinking about something like what they have now for the big screen tv's that the TVs sit on and the stuff goes underneath. This is more like the old ones that the TV goes in but you can close the door. Oh well, DH is setting it all up. If we decide we really don't like it there it would go really nice in the cottage.

Nancy you did do well with those sticker sheets. Kids love stickers. We have a Tuesday Morning about half way to the cottage. I have stopped a couple of times, I like to check out what they have.

Carrie, I hope you have battened down the hatches!!! Here they are saying to put away all yard furniture, pots on railings, even Halloween decorations. Anything that can become a projectile.
Sure hope you don't loose power.

I guess I should fill up some containers of water. If our power goes we have no water.

Rhonda, what are you up to tonight?
Did I tell you I made your Tortilla Cups for our scrap time last Friday at church? Everyone really liked them. :)

Well, I think I am going to make my way to the basement and see if I can do a few more page layouts. I think I will have 50 by Friday. The crop starts at 2 so I would like to have my stuff packed up Thursday night.
I also have to turn on my dinosaur computer down there to bring up my CDS. My niece wants to know if I have an airplane I can cut out of vinyl for her. They had one on her son's door but had to remove it or the door or something.

good evening.. it has been a long day and will be a long night. The wind and rain have been awful. Gusts and hard rain coming and going. I have not lost power fortunately, and have been communicating all day with family from NC to MA.
I worked a bit on my Christmas cards just for a break. But the winds howling have been un-nerving.

Just to clarify.. Carrie's weather has been caused by a cold front that is moving towards me. Winds from Sandy will clash with that front causing all the snow in the mountains. Right now, they have had 2' in some areas of WV and western MD and are under a blizzard warning. The weather from the clash will spread to Paula and up into Canada.

Spoke to my Mom in CA today and we talked about the pictures that she got last month. She was finally able to sit down and look at them. She said she is sure I will be very excited to get to see them. I told her that I want her to keep them there and NOT put them in the mail. I told her we will scan them and then I will be comfortable. I want to scan them at the highest possible resolution and I don't think my sister would think to do that. Anyway, I am very excited to get to see the pictures, just not sure when I can get there yet.

Other than that, it has been a day of weather watch and talk. I am so ready for this storm to be over.

Pat, glad you checked in and that you are faring ok. Sure hope the winds give you a break soon. And good to hear that you have not lost power. That makes the weather a little easier to bear. Please continue to keep us posted. I know you will have a grand time when you finally get to see the pics. And hopefully some tidbits of info for the family files. A great idea to scan at maximum resolution!

Paula, that is a lot of pages! I do not know how you do it. If I could get that much done I might eventually get caught upDrool It just seems to daunting I find it hard to try. Hope your weather doesn't get too bad.

I am not really doing much tonight - just trying to read (can't get into a new bookConfused

Thanks for the good thoughts Rhonda. This has been the worst weather I have seen. I am grateful to have power. So much worse in NYC. Jim has a cousin in Brooklyn and I did hear from his wife tonight. They are ok, but of course scared.

I hate when I can't get into a book. I have been trying to get some e-books loaded on my tablet for when we travel and if I fly out to CA.
I have been thinking I need to get my records in order to see what I want to look for when I get out to CA. I will be at my sisters part of the time and that is where I found new info last year that needs looking into. Hope if I can get out there, I can spend some time checking out some bits of info. Mom said the writing on the backs of some of the pictures is definitely her sister's, but who gave her the info, we have no idea. Could have been my grandfather.

Paula 50 pages is a lot. I hope you can get them done. Sorry about the piece of furniture maybe not working. At least you have a plan b.

Our winds should be calming down over the next 4-5 hours. They said by the morning, it will be still be raining but better. The weekend is going to be sunny and dry for clean-up.

Woohoo!! I can log in today!!!
I don't know why, but I could get on and read, it just wouldn't take my log in.

Hope everyone is safe. Man the east coast is gettin slammed. Pat, hope your doing alright.
We have a high wind warning. 50 mph with 20 ft. waves on the lake. I know it's minor compared to out east.

Today is monster house, DS is going too. :)
Tonight will be getting ready for Fri. Focus of my week.
I may go in to town because we want to sign up for a cookie class at J's. My sister, Serina and Cathy are going to take it. Wish Katie was here...

Rhonda, I am working on 2011 so there are lots of pics. All DS's senior activities and graduation. It makes for many multi page layouts which go prety quick. When I finish that year I think I will go back to 2007. Although I do like doing things I can kind of remember.

good afternoon.. short break here while I have some lunch. Day is going well.. I have almost emptied the smaller spare bedroom. This room will become more of an office that Jim can use when he works from home. It will also be where we will keep all the research stuff.
I still need to empty the cabinet in there and then we can move it to a different wall. Hoping Jim can also get the desk moved today. He is back to the office tomorrow.
Paula, monster house should go quick with Tay's help. And I hope you are able to get a lot of the pages kits assembled. Since I don't scrapbook everything and have no plans to do the last 40+ yrs, I am never really behind. I do need to do the gingerbread pages from last year and also finish up some cemetery pages from a NC trip, but other than those and the recent society meeting, I am in good shape.

Very dreary here today with winds and a little drizzly rain. Nothing bad or even near what we had yesterday. It is chilly though. Can't wait for some sunshine this weekend.

Well it's been wild and crazy here.

I have had friends that used to live here but now lives in Nebraska staying with us in anticipation of the arrival of their first grand baby. Well around 9:30 last night they got the call that birth was imminent and to head to the hospital. Their route was blocked twice by fallen trees but they made it in time to see a grand daughter come into the world at 1:15 last night. The power went out shortly after that and stayed off for about 3 hours. Came back on only to go off again this morning for about an hour. Jim has started the fire place insert in case we lose it again.

Pat I am glad to hear that you are okay and since you didn't mention the immediate family I hope I am safe to assume that they are fine as well. I have never seen a storm like that. I am a weather geek and that was the king of kings. Just the pressure was incredible. Because of the massive size, we got the outer bands early yesterday. Woke up to a dusting of slushy snow that didn't last long. Chris has been called down to the airport for the week to do restoration on damage they had there.

Paula I can't pull my head above water to get any layouts done. Good for you. PC has had issues with logging in to Craftroom too.

Rhonda some books are very hard to get into and then you find that you don't want the story to end. I have a new book for book club next week and I hate it. I am having a huge issue trying to read it.

Well I need to keep the fire going until Jim gets back. And I have to do payroll and finish designing emails for the club social events coming up.
Have a good evening.

Wow Carrie, you are having a wild time!!!
I am only making good progress on the layouts because I have a deadling looming. I want to have plenty to work on this weekend.

Pat, glad things are better than expected for your area!

We did loose power late this afternoon for two hours. So glad they got it back on so fast.

We did get signed up for the cookie class too. Now to work on the mile long list of things we need for it. ugh!

good evening.. Not sure how much longer I will last. I got a 2nd wind mid evening and managed to get a little more done.
Paula, I just can't imagine getting 50 layouts done at a crop. Even if they are in page kits. I guess if they don't get done, you will have them to work on at other times. What will you learn in the cookie class?
Carrie, yes both of the girl's made it through without losing power, which is half the battle. Eldest had a little water damage that we think was from a gutter. She was hoping to get someone out to look at it asap. So glad your friends made it to the hospital in time. How exciting.

We got the spare bedroom partially put back together. I need to go through the desk drawers before I put them back in and I also need to figure out a file cabinet for the genealogy papers. There is nothing in that room that hasn't been gone through. This weekend we will be making a trip to the recycle station with some electronics. A couple of printers, laptop and tower scanner and assorted other stuff. Jim just needs to get the hard drives out of the computers. I am also hoping to take all the craft supply donations to the church where they are holding the sale. I will be glad to get all those boxes out of the living room and family room. I am starting to see more progress each day. I won't make my Oct 31st goal, but the hurricane prep did set me back a couple days. So if I can get the 2 spare bedrooms back in order by Sunday I will be happy.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Darn, just typed a long post and it disappearedAngry

To recap:

Paula, the cooked class sounds like lots of fun.

Pat, glad the family made it through the storms with minimal damage. I know you will be so happy to accomplish the purge/sort goal.

Carrie, congrats to the family on the new addition. Glad they were able to make it to the hospital in time.

Hello to Nancy, Lizzy, and Laurie!

Going to be a beautiful day again here. Near 70*, and will be for the rest of the week. At least it will be a nice evening for the trick or treaters. I don't get any here, so didn't buy any candy - no temptations!

Oh Rhonda, enjoy that nice weather!!
It's 40 and rainy here. At least the wind has finally let up.

Last night I finished layouts for all the pics I have printed. I now remember we have no Christmas pics. I don't know if we didn't take any or if I just can't find them. I guess it's back to the computer to look for them.

Pat, you made great progress yesterday!! WTG! Having those two bedrooms completed will be a wonderful feeling! And like you said, by preparing for the storm you have a lot of outdoor tasks done and won't have to be doing those.

We are making cookies on sticks, decorating them and making an arrangement with them. Gingerbread men and peppermint candy shaped cookies.

Well, I was hoping to sleep in this morning but that didn't happen. I will spend some time organizing the scrap area. I am also thinking about doing my Thur. house today just to have it out of the way. (they are out of town so it doesn't matter when I go)

good morning.. and Happy Halloween. This is one of those holidays that they could skip as far as I am concerned. We still get some little ones in their cute costumes, but most of them are teenagers with pillow cases. I think more and more people are taking advantage of the safe inside community activities and/or trunk or treats. Anyway, I buy candy I don't like and anything that is left gets put in the CFS boxes.

Rhonda, enjoy that weather.. It is chilly here and of course still damp, but we are going into the upper 50's, so do-able. I am just so glad for the winds to be gone and to maybe see a little sun today. I am so over Sandy.
Were you able to get into the book you are reading? What else are you working on? I made a list the other day of which records I would need to check for if I go to CA. Several births and a couple possible deaths plus one marriage. All from the mid 1860's, so not sure what I will find except for the marriage, which I know is there. That was the record I found on line last year that opened the flood gates (so to speak) for me. Those records plus the box of pictures at Mom's will make for a good genealogy trip.

Paula, I say go for getting the Thurs house out of the way, if you haven't already. Procrastinating is one of the things I have worked hard on this year to stop doing. This morning before I got on the computer (except to quick check, society emails) I started on the desk drawers. I also got the dishwasher going and a load of laundry downstairs. This afternoon I will be packing up all the CFS holiday cards. I have one more pkg coming from FL (should be here today or tomorrow) and that will be it for now. I am still trying to decide if we are going to do cards TO the troops this year.
Hope you can find those Christmas pictures. I take less and less pictures every year now that the grands are getting older. We do always get a family group picture though. This year I would like to do separate shots also, like as if we had them done professionally. Not likely to happen though unless I get creative. I am finding if I get the kids involved it goes a bit better. Like giving them different responsibilities. It is too hard to have it done at a studio since there are so many of us.
The cookie class sounds fun. When is it scheduled for? I look forward to seeing pictures of the finished product.
I need to get back to work here. I am 5 mins behind. LOL

Good evening and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Carrie I hope you didn't lose power again. I am glad your friends made it to the hospital safely. What a story they will have about the day she was born!

Pat that is a good idea about buying candy you don't like. I put little toys in my Halloween bucket. I have for years. I buy the rings, bracelets, toy animals pencils ect. after halloween at a good discount and hand those out. What doesn't go can keep until next year.

Paula I had that same problem with logging in one day. I actually shut down my computer and restarted it and then I was able to. I wasn't sure if it was because I left it on or not. I wouldn't think because I had done it before. Did you do your Thursday house today?

Rhonda what beautiful wether you had today. We are in the mid 40's right now so a little cool for the trick or treaters but they don't mind. It's the moms and dads who get cold and are ready to be done! Did you try to get into your book anymore. It is hard sometimes with books because sometimes they can start slow and get better or if your just not in the mood for that type of book.

Well busy here with the Halloween party but it went well and I even got lunch done on time. Sometimes I run late with all the activities but had to be careful with the older kids going to preschool shortly after lunch. Riley did help me hold the baby and he put him to sleep while I finished with one of the projects and the kids shaved the pumpkin!

There are not a lot of lights on in the neighborhood so I am not sure how many kids I will get. So far I have only gotten my daycare kids but it hasn't been dark too long either.

I hope everyone has a great evening!

Happy Halloween, friends! As I said before, life has been busy, but pretty decent. I worked like crazy yesterday, but got lots of good stuff done in my classroom. I changed the bulletin boards and moved a bunch of stuff around. I still have one board to do and some maps to hang up on the wall. I might try to work on that tomorrow afternoon. I have two parent conferences tomorrow...following report cards. One is a mom who wants to drive home a point with her son and the other is a dad who somehow thinks his son is "failing." I don't quite understand his concerns, nor does his son, but we will figure it all out tomorrow.

Sorry to all of you who have been experiencing the Sandy travails. We, of course, just continue with our pleasant weather, although we are under the "Santa Ana" conditions that we typically experience in the Fall. Santa Ana conditions are very dry, often very hot weather which leads to a high-fire-risk. We had high winds last week which only makes it worse, but fortunately didn't have any fires.

The days are racing past and I am desperately trying to get some things taught before we take off for vacation. As usual, we keep getting interrupted with trivial things like fundraising assemblies (?). This next week, we are going on a field trip, but still haven't received the permission slips from the Vice-Principal, so I had to send him an email today requesting them. HELLO!!

Good idea about submitting more resumes/job applications, Rhonda. Keep all those options open!!

Well, I've got to go and take care of a few things before going to bed. Everyone take care.

good morning.. Been up since 0:dark:thirty and it is going to be a looooong day I am sure. Laundry is already going and I have cleaned out one more drawer.

Lizzy, good to hear from you and that things are going well enough at school. Hope the parent meetings today solve any problems. Sorry about the trivial interruptions, but I guess some are necessary. It does seem though, that the permission slips should have been taken care of by now. Will you be going on it with the class?
Well, we had a fair number of kids last night, but they were mostly older. Most were in groups of 5 or 6, but they were polite and I think they just were having fun. I did get rid of all the candy I had. More so because I was giving several to each kid.
Nancy, I gave out those *toys* one year. It worked when we had more young children.

Today I am going to continue working on the spare bedroom and hopefully get all the drawers gone through and then try to get 4 barrister cases in the craft room ready to bring up. I will use those for genealogy stuff. Currently they are sitting where the bike will end up.
I do need to go to the grocery for a few things. Hoping the shelves are restocked. Also hoping to vote today. They extended the evening hours to make up for losing 2 days. Today is the last early day.
Last thing on my to do list is packing CFS. Last ones should arrive today.
Hope everyone else has a good day and are productive.

Pat, sorry your day started so early, but at least you have made good use of it! Hope you can get your errands ran and that you are finally able to vote today.

Lizzy, you are really sailing along. Soon you will be on vacation! Do you have any plans or trips planning during your time off? Hope that VP gets off his duff and gets those permission slips to you. They should have been sent out and returned by now.

Paula, did you do Thursday house yesterday? I hope you get all the pages done that you have ready. That will be great progress. Then you can come spend several days with me and help me get a start on getting caught upLove

Nancy, did you end up with lots of "ghosts and goblins" last night? Nice that Riley could help you with the baby so you could help the other kiddos on their projects.

I worked yesterday getting ready for the auction. I was helping sorting and setting things out, moving things around. I was on the go all day. I will also be working outside again today. The auction is tomorrow. I am not used to doing physical work all day so was ready for bed early last night. Loved all the calories I burned! I am so ready for this week to be over.
