figured if I post here that I won't let this be a UFO! I got my KK set at M's with my 40% off ...had some yarn and gave it a start last night. Started with the wee baby size first to get the hang of it. Questions... what type yarn have you use for hats and scarfs? I used a worsted yard here...I thought it said to double up on the stitches when you go around., but decided to try it with out it....should I have used a thicker yarn? The yarn needs to be thick or I use two strands at a time. The grey sweater yarns are great! It's kind of a bit of trial and error.

Hi Jeanne! Fancy meeting you here!!!
I like to use one skein of Lion Brand Homespun yarn and one strand of LionBrand WoolEase. Not chunky, just regular. It makes a nice soft warm washable hat.

It's simply a matter of preference. I have made some with the thick yarn and doubling it and have used it single. Most prefer the single thick yarn because it appears softer and not as tight.
I use also worsted yarn and here again I'll make some with double yarn and some without. Here again a matter of preference. In our area one strand of any yarn is plenty since it does not get that cold here. If you live anywhere with temperatures below 70 degrees you will want it thicker.
